| 1 Thus the Lord GOD showed me, and behold, there was a basket of summer fruit. | 1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit. | 1 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, a basket of summer fruit. | 1 These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold a hook to draw down the fruit. | 1 Thus hath the Lord Jehovah shewed me, and, lo, a basket of summer-fruit. | 2 He said, "What do you see, Amos?" "Many will be the corpses; in every place they will cast them forth in silence." | 3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence. | 3 And the songs of the temple shall be wailings in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah: the dead bodies shall be many: in every place shall they cast them forth with silence. | 3 And the hinges of the temple shall screak in that day, saith the Lord God: many shall die: silence shall be cast in every place. | 3 And howled have songstresses of a palace in that day, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Many are the carcases, into any place throw -- hush! | 4 Hear this, you who trample the needy, to do away with the humble of the land, | 4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, | 4 Hear this, O ye that would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail, | 4 Hear this, you that crush the poor, and make the needy of the land to fail, | 4 Hear this, ye who are swallowing up the needy, To cause to cease the poor of the land, | 5 saying, "When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain, And the sabbath, that we may open the wheat market, To make the bushel smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales, | 5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? | 5 saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit; | 5 Saying: When will the month be over, and we shall sell our wares: and the sabbath, and we shall open the corn: that we may lessen the measure, and increase the sicle, and may convey in deceitful balances, | 5 Saying, When doth the new moon pass, And we sell ground corn?
