Jacob Leaves Secretly for Canaan

1 Now Jacob heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, "Jacob has taken away all that was our father's, and from what belonged to our father he has made all this wealth."1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.1 But after that he heard the words of the sons of Laban, saying: Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's, and being enriched by his substance is become great: 1 And he heareth the words of Laban's sons, saying, 'Jacob hath taken all that our father hath; yea, from that which our father hath, he hath made all this honour;'
2 Jacob saw the attitude of Laban, and behold, it was not friendly toward him as formerly.2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as beforetime.2 And perceiving also that Laban's countenance was not towards him as yesterday and the other day, 2 and Jacob seeth the face of Laban, and lo, it is not with him as heretofore.
3 Then the LORD said to Jacob, "Return to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you."3 And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.3 And Jehovah said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.3 Especially the Lord saying to him: Return into the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I will be with thee. 3 And Jehovah saith unto Jacob, 'Turn back unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I am with thee.'
4 So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to his flock in the field,4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,4 He sent, and called Rachel and Lia into the field, where he fed the flocks, 4 And Jacob sendeth and calleth for Rachel and for Leah to the field unto his flock;

7 "Yet your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times; however, God did not allow him to hurt me.7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.7 Yea, your father also hath overreached me, and hath changes my wages ten times: and yet God hath not suffered him to hurt me. 7 and your father hath played upon me, and hath changed my hire ten times; and God hath not suffered him to do evil with me.
8 "If he spoke thus, 'The speckled shall be your wages,' then all the flock brought forth speckled; and if he spoke thus, 'The striped shall be your wages,' then all the flock brought forth striped.8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ring-streaked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ring-streaked.8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the flock bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstreaked shall be thy wages; then bare all the flock ringstreaked.8 If at any time he said: The speckled shall be thy wages: all the sheep brought forth speckled: but when he said on the contrary: Thou shalt take all the white ones for thy wages: all the flocks brought forth white ones. 8 'If he say thus: The speckled are thy hire, then bare all the flock speckled ones; and if he say thus: The ring-streaked are thy hire, then bare all the flock ring-streaked;
9 "Thus God has taken away your father's livestock and given them to me.9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.9 And God hath taken your father's substance, and given it to me. 9 and God taketh away the substance of your father, and doth give to me.
10 "And it came about at the time when the flock were mating that I lifted up my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which were mating were striped, speckled, and mottled.10 And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ring-streaked, speckled, and grizzled.10 And it came to pass at the time that the flock conceive, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the he-goats which leaped upon the flock were ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled.10 For after that time came of the ewes conceiving, I lifted up my eyes, and saw in my sleep that the males which leaped upon the females were of diverse colors, and spotted, and speckled. 10 And it cometh to pass at the time of the flock conceiving, that I lift up mine eyes and see in a dream, and lo, the he-goats, which are going up on the flock, are ring-streaked, speckled, and grisled;

12 "He said, 'Lift up now your eyes and see that all the male goats which are mating are striped, speckled, and mottled; for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you.12 And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ring-streaked, speckled, and grizzled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.12 And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the he-goats which leap upon the flock are ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.12 And he said: Lift up thy eyes, and see that all the males leaping upon the females, are of divers colors, spotted, and speckled. For I have seen all that Laban hath done to thee. 12 And He saith, Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see -- all the he-goats which are going up on the flock are ring-streaked, speckled, and grisled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to thee;
13 I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth.'"13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.13 I am the God of Beth-el, where thou anointedst a pillar, where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy nativity.13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou didst anoint the stone, and make a vow to me. 15 "Are we not reckoned by him as foreigners? For he has sold us, and has also entirely consumed our purchase price.15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.15 Are we not accounted by him as foreigners? for he hath sold us, and hath also quite devoured our money.15 Hath he not counted us as strangers and sold us, and eaten up the price of us? 15 have we not been reckoned strangers to him? for he hath sold us, and he also utterly consumeth our money;

24 God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream of the night and said to him, "Be careful that you do not speak to Jacob either good or bad."24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said unto him, Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.24 And he saw in a dream God saying to him: Take heed thou speak not any thing harshly against Jacob. 24 And God cometh in unto Laban the Aramaean in a dream of the night, and saith to him, 'Take heed to thyself lest thou speak with Jacob from good unto evil.'
25 Laban caught up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country, and Laban with his kinsmen camped in the hill country of Gilead.25 Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.25 And Laban came up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain: and Laban with his brethren encamped in the mountain of Gilead.25 Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain: and when he with his brethren had overtaken him, he pitched his tent in the same mount of Galaad. 25 And Laban overtaketh Jacob; and Jacob hath fixed his tent in the mount; and Laban with his brethren have fixed theirs in the mount of Gilead.

28 and did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. 35 She said to her father, "Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise before you, for the manner of women is upon me." So he searched but did not find the household idols.35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched but found not the images.35 And she said to her father, Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee; for the manner of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the teraphim.35 She said: Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee, because it has now happened to me, according to the custom of women, So his careful search was in vain. 35 and she saith unto her father, 'Let it not be displeasing in the eyes of my lord that I am not able to rise at thy presence, for the way of women is on me;' and he searcheth, and hath not found the teraphim.

37 "Though you have felt through all my goods, what have you found of all your household goods? Set it here before my kinsmen and your kinsmen, that they may decide between us two.37 Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.37 Whereas thou hast felt about all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us two.37 And searched all my household stuff? 39 "That which was torn of beasts I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it myself. 40 "Thus I was: by day the heat consumed me and the frost by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes.40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes.40 Day and night was I parched with heat, and with frost, and sleep departed from my eyes. 40 I have been thus: in the day consumed me hath drought, and frost by night, and wander doth my sleep from mine eyes.

God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, so He rendered judgment last night."42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. The Covenant of Mizpah
43 Then Laban replied to Jacob, "The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine. But what can I do this day to these my daughters or to their children whom they have borne?43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children whom they have borne?43 Laban answered him: The daughters are mine and the children, and thy flocks, and all things that thou seest are mine: what can I do to my children, and grandchildren? 43 And Laban answereth and saith unto Jacob, 'The daughters are my daughters, and the sons my sons, and the flock my flock, and all that thou art seeing is mine; and to my daughters -- what do I to these to-day, or to their sons whom they have born?
44 "So now come, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it be a witness between you and me."44 Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.44 And now come, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.44 Come therefore, let us enter into a league: that it may be for a testimony between me and thee. 44 and now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and it hath been for a witness between me and thee.'

50 "If you mistreat my daughters, or if you take wives besides my daughters, although no man is with us, see, God is witness between you and me."50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, and if thou shalt take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.50 If thou afflict my daughters, and if thou bring in other wives over them: none is witness of our speech but God, who is present and beholdeth. 50 if thou afflict my daughters, or take wives beside my daughters -- there is no man with us -- see, God is witness between me and thee.'
