Prayer for Mercy and Help
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, That the mountains might quake at Your presence--1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence,1 THAT thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence. 1 Didst Thou not rend the heavens? Thou didst come down, From thy presence did mountains flow,
2 As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil-- To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence!2 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!2 as when fire kindleth the brushwood, and the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!2 They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence. 2 (As fire kindleth stubble -- Fire causeth water to boil,) To make known Thy name to Thine adversaries, From Thy presence do nations tremble.
3 When You did awesome things which we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence.3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence.3 When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away. 3 In Thy doing fearful things -- we expect not, Thou didst come down, From Thy presence did mountains flow.
4 For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.4 For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him.4 From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee. 4 Even from antiquity men have not heard, They have not given ear, Eye hath not seen a God save Thee, He doth work for those waiting for Him.
5 You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned, We continued in them a long time; And shall we be saved?5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them have we been of long time; and shall we be saved?5 Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved. 5 Thou hast met with the rejoicer And the doer of righteousness, In Thy ways they remember Thee, Lo, Thou hast been wroth when we sin, By them is continuance, and we are saved.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.6 For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.6 And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 6 And we are as unclean -- all of us, And as a garment passing away, all our righteous acts; And we fade as a leaf -- all of us. And our iniquities as wind do take us away.
7 There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities.7 There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity. 7 And there is none calling in Thy name, Stirring up himself to lay hold on Thee, For Thou hast hid Thy face from us, And thou meltest us away by our iniquities.
8 But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.8 But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.8 And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands. 8 And now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father, We are the clay, and Thou our Framer, And the work of Thy hand -- all of us.
9 Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD, Nor remember iniquity forever; Behold, look now, all of us are Your people.9 Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.9 Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, look, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.9 Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people. 9 Be not wroth, O Jehovah, very sore, Nor for ever remember iniquity, Lo, look attentively, we beseech Thee, Thy people are we all.
10 Your holy cities have become a wilderness, Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.10 Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.10 The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate. 10 Thy holy cities have been a wilderness, Zion a wilderness hath been, Jerusalem a desolation.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 Our holy and beautiful house, Where our fathers praised You, Has been burned by fire; And all our precious things have become a ruin.11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste.11 The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins. 11 Our holy and our beautiful house, Where praise Thee did our fathers, Hath become burnt with fire, And all our desirable things have become a waste.
12 Will You restrain Yourself at these things, O LORD? Will You keep silent and afflict us beyond measure?12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Jehovah? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?12 Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently? 12 For these dost Thou refrain Thyself, Jehovah? Thou art silent, and dost afflict us very sore!'
