The Murmuring of Miriam and Aaron | ||||
NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); | 1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. | 1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married; for he had married a Cushite woman. | 1 And Mary and Aaron spoke against Moses, because of his wife the Ethiopian, | 1 And Miriam speaketh -- Aaron also -- against Moses concerning the circumstance of the Cushite woman whom he had taken: for a Cushite woman he had taken; | 2 and they said, "Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?" And the LORD heard it. | 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. | 2 And they said, Hath Jehovah indeed spoken only with Moses? hath he not spoken also with us? And Jehovah heard it. | 2 And they said: Hath the Lord spoken by Moses only? hath he not also spoken to us in like manner? And when the Lord heard this, | 2 and they say, 'Only by Moses hath Jehovah spoken? also by us hath he not spoken?' and Jehovah heareth. | 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) | 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) | 3 Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men that were upon the face of the earth. | 3 (For Moses was a man exceeding meek above all men that dwelt upon earth) | 3 And the man Moses is very humble, more than any of the men who are on the face of the ground. | 4 Suddenly the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, "You three come out to the tent of meeting." So the three of them came out. | 4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. | 4 And Jehovah spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting. And they three came out. | 4 Immediately he spoke to him, and to Aaron and Mary: Come out you three only to the tabernacle of the covenant. And when they were come out, | 4 And Jehovah saith suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, 'Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting;' and they three come out. | 5 Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called Aaron and Miriam. When they had both come forward, | 5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. | 5 And Jehovah came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the door of the Tent, and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forth. | 5 The Lord came down in a pillar of the cloud, and stood in the entry of the tabernacle calling to Aaron and Mary. And when they were come, | 5 And Jehovah cometh down in the pillar of the cloud, and standeth at the opening of the tent, and calleth Aaron and Miriam, and they come out both of them. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 6 He said, "Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream. | 6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. | 6 And he said, Hear now my words: if there be a prophet among you, I Jehovah will make myself known unto him in a vision, I will speak with him in a dream. | 6 He said to them: Hear my words: if there be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him in a dream. | 6 And He saith, 'Hear, I pray you, My words: If your prophet is of Jehovah -- in an appearance unto him I make Myself known; in a dream I speak with him; | 7 "Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; | 7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. | 7 My servant Moses is not so; he is faithful in all my house: | 7 But it is not so with my servant Moses who is most faithful in all my house: | 7 not so My servant Moses; in all My house he is stedfast; | 8 With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?" | 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? | 8 with him will I speak mouth to mouth, even manifestly, and not in dark speeches; and the form of Jehovah shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses? | 8 For I speak to him mouth to mouth: and plainly, and not by riddles and figures doth he see the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak ill of my servant Moses? | 8 mouth unto mouth I speak with him, and by an appearance, and not in riddles; and the form of Jehovah he beholdeth attentively; and wherefore have ye not been afraid to speak against My servant -- against Moses?' | 9 So the anger of the LORD burned against them and He departed. | 9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. | 9 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against them; and he departed. | 9 And being angry with them he went away: | 9 And the anger of Jehovah burneth against them, and He goeth on, | 10 But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous. | 10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. | 10 And the cloud removed from over the Tent; and, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as'snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. | 10 The cloud also that was over the tabernacle departed: and behold Mary appeared white as snow with a leprosy. And when Aaron had looked on her, and saw her all covered with leprosy, | 10 and the cloud hath turned aside from off the tent, and lo, Miriam is leprous as snow; and Aaron turneth unto Miriam, and lo, leprous! | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 11 Then Aaron said to Moses, "Oh, my lord, I beg you, do not account this sin to us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned. | 11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. | 11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Oh, my lord, lay not, I pray thee, sin upon us, for that we have done foolishly, and for that we have sinned. | 11 He said to Moses: I beseech thee, my lord, lay not upon us this sin, which we have foolishly committed: | 11 And Aaron saith unto Moses, 'O, my lord, I pray thee, lay not upon us sin in which we have been foolish, and in which we have sinned; | 12 "Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother's womb!" | 12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. | 12 Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. | 12 Let her not be as one dead, and as an abortive that is cast forth from the mother's womb. Lo, now one half of her flesh is consumed with the leprosy. | 12 let her not, I pray thee, be as one dead, when in his coming out from the womb of his mother -- the half of his flesh is consumed.' | 13 Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, "O God, heal her, I pray!" | 13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. | 13 And Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, Heal her, O God, I beseech thee. | 13 And Moses cried to the Lord, saying: O God, I beseech thee heal her. | 13 And Moses crieth unto Jehovah, saying, 'O God, I pray Thee, give, I pray Thee, healing to her.' | 14 But the LORD said to Moses, "If her father had but spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again." | 14 And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. | 14 And Jehovah said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut up without the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again. | 14 And the Lord answered him: If her father had spitten upon her face, ought she not to have been ashamed for seven days at least? Let her be separated seven days without the camp, and after wards she shall be called again. | 14 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'And her father had but spat in her face -- is she not ashamed seven days? she is shut out seven days at the outside of the camp, and afterwards she is gathered.' | 15 So Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until Miriam was received again. | 15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. | 15 And Miriam was shut up without the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. | 15 Mary therefore was put out of the camp seven days : and the people moved not from that place until Mary was called again. | 15 And Miriam is shut out at the outside of the camp seven days, and the people hath not journeyed till Miriam is gathered; | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 16 Afterward, however, the people moved out from Hazeroth and camped in the wilderness of Paran. | 16 And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran. | 16 And afterward the people journeyed from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran. | 16 And the people marched from Haseroth, and pitched their tents in the desert of Pharan. | 16 and afterwards have the people journeyed from Hazeroth, and they encamp in the wilderness of Paran. |
