NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; And hide not thyself from my supplication.1 Unto the end, in verses, understanding for David. Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication: 1 To the Overseer with stringed instruments. -- An instruction, by David. Give ear, O God, to my prayer, And hide not from my supplication.
Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and am surely distracted,2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;2 Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan,2 be attentive to me and hear me. I am grieved in my exercise; and am troubled, 2 Attend to me, and answer me, I mourn in my meditation, and make a noise,
Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they bear a grudge against me.3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they cast iniquity upon me, And in anger they persecute me.3 at the voice of the enemy, and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have cast iniquities upon me: and in wrath they were troublesome to me. 3 Because of the voice of an enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked, For they cause sorrow to move against me, And in anger they hate me.
My heart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.4 My heart is sore pained within me: And the terrors of death are fallen upon me.4 My heart is troubled within me: and the fear of death is fallen upon me. 4 My heart is pained within me, And terrors of death have fallen on me.
Fear and trembling come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me.5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, And horror hath overwhelmed me.5 Fear and trembling are come upon me: and darkness hath covered me. 5 Fear and trembling come in to me, And horror doth cover me.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then would I fly away, and be at rest.6 And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, and I will fly and be at rest? 6 And I say, 'Who doth give to me a pinion as a dove? I fly away and rest,
"Behold, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah.7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.7 Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah7 Lo, I have gone far off flying away; and I abode in the wilderness. 7 Lo, I move far off, I lodge in a wilderness. Selah.
"I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest."8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.8 I would haste me to a shelter From the stormy wind and tempest.8 I waited for him that hath saved me from pusillanimity of spirit, and a storm. 8 I hasten escape for myself, From a rushing wind, from a whirlwind.
Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue; For I have seen violence and strife in the city.9 Cast down, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city. 9 Swallow up, O Lord, divide their tongue, For I saw violence and strife in a city.
Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.10 Day and night shall iniquity surround it upon its walls: and in the midst thereof are labour, 10 By day and by night they go round it, on its walls. Both iniquity and perverseness are in its midst,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
Destruction is in her midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets.11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.11 and injustice. And usury and deceit have not departed from its streets. 11 Mischiefs are in its midst. Fraud and deceit depart not from its street.
For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; Then I could have borne it: Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; Then I would have hid myself from him:12 For if my enemy had reviled me, I would verily have borne with it. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him. 12 For an enemy reproacheth me not, or I bear it, He who is hating me Hath not magnified himself against me, Or I hide from him.
But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend;13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, My companion, and my familiar friend.13 But thou a man of one mind, my guide, and my familiar, 13 But thou, a man -- as mine equal, My familiar friend, and mine acquaintance.
We who had sweet fellowship together Walked in the house of God in the throng.14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.14 We took sweet counsel together; We walked in the house of God with the throng.14 Who didst take sweetmeats together with me: in the house of God we walked with consent. 14 When together we sweeten counsel, Into the house of God we walk in company.
Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.15 Let death come suddenly upon them, Let them go down alive into Sheol; For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.15 Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into hell. For there is wickedness in their dwellings: in the midst of them. 15 Desolations are upon them, They go down to Sheol -- alive, For wickedness is in their dwelling, in their midst.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
As for me, I shall call upon God, And the LORD will save me.16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.16 As for me, I will call upon God; And Jehovah will save me.16 But I have cried to God: and the Lord will save me. 16 I -- to God I call, and Jehovah saveth me.
Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.17 Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan; And he will hear my voice.17 Evening and morning, and at noon I will speak and declare: and he shall hear my voice. 17 Evening, and morning, and noon, I meditate, and make a noise, and He heareth my voice,
He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me.18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.18 He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me; For they were many that strove with me.18 He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: for among many they were with me. 18 He hath ransomed in peace my soul From him who is near to me, For with the multitude they were with me.
God will hear and answer them-- Even the one who sits enthroned from of old-- Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.19 God will hear, and answer them, Even he that abideth of old, Selah The men who have no changes, And who fear not God.19 God shall hear, and the Eternal shall humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God: 19 God doth hear and afflict them, And He sitteth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, and fear not God,
He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant.20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.20 He hath put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: He hath profaned his covenant.20 he hath stretched forth his hand to repay. They have defiled his covenant, 20 He hath sent forth his hands against his well-wishers, He hath polluted his covenant.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.21 His mouth was smooth as butter, But his heart was war: His words were softer than oil, Yet were they drawn swords.21 they are divided by the wrath Of his countenance, and his heart hath drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and the same are darts. 21 Sweeter than honey hath been his mouth, And his heart is war! Softer have been his words than oil, And they are drawn swords.
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.22 Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee: He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.22 Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall not suffer the just to waver for ever. 22 Cast on Jehovah that which He hath given thee, And He doth sustain thee, He doth not suffer for ever the moving of the righteous.
But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.23 But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in thee. 23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee, O Lord. 23 And Thou, O God, dost bring them down To a pit of destruction, Men of blood and deceit reach not to half their days, And I -- I do trust in Thee!
