Sanctification and Love
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more.1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.1 Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.1 For the rest therefore, brethren, we pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us, how you ought to walk, and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. 1 As to the rest, then, brethren, we request you, and call upon you in the Lord Jesus, as ye did receive from us how it behoveth you to walk and to please God, that ye may abound the more,
2 For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.2 For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.2 For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus. 2 for ye have known what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus,
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you should abstain from fornication; 3 for this is the will of God -- your sanctification; that ye abstain from the whoredom,
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;4 that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour: 4 that each of you know his own vessel to possess in sanctification and honour,
5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;5 Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God: 5 not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you.6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.6 that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.6 And that no man overreach, nor circumvent his brother in business: because the Lord is the avenger of all these things, as we have told you before, and have testified. 6 that no one go beyond and defraud in the matter his brother, because an avenger is the Lord of all these, as also we spake before to you and testified,
7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto sanctification. 7 for God did not call us on uncleanness, but in sanctification;
8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.8 Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.8 Therefore, he that despiseth these things, despiseth not man, but God, who also hath given his holy Spirit in us. 8 he, therefore, who is despising -- doth not despise man, but God, who also did give His Holy Spirit to us.
9 Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.9 But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;9 But as touching the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you: for yourselves have learned of God to love one another. 9 And concerning the brotherly love, ye have no need of my writing to you, for ye yourselves are God-taught to love one another,
10 for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more,10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;10 for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;10 For indeed you do it towards all the brethren in all Macedonia. But we entreat you, brethren, that you abound more: 10 for ye do it also to all the brethren who are in all Macedonia; and we call upon you, brethren, to abound still more,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;11 and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;11 And that you use your endeavour to be quiet, and that you do your own business, and work with your own hands, as we commanded you: 11 and to study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we did command you,
12 so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.12 that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.12 and that you walk honestly towards them that are without; and that you want nothing of any man's. 12 that ye may walk becomingly unto those without, and may have lack of nothing.
Those Who Died in Christ
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.13 But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.13 And we will not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that you be not sorrowful, even as others who have no hope. 13 And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, that ye may not sorrow, as also the rest who have not hope,
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.14 For if we believe that Jesus died, and rose again; even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him. 14 for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also God those asleep through Jesus he will bring with him,
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.15 For this we say unto you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who have slept. 15 for this to you we say in the word of the Lord, that we who are living -- who do remain over to the presence of the Lord -- may not precede those asleep,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;16 For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment, and with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in Christ, shall rise first. 16 because the Lord himself, in a shout, in the voice of a chief-messenger, and in the trump of God, shall come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ shall rise first,
17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.17 then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.17 Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord. 17 then we who are living, who are remaining over, together with them shall be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in air, and so always with the Lord we shall be;
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.18 Wherefore, comfort ye one another with these words. 18 so, then, comfort ye one another in these words.
