| 1 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Moab and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime. | 1 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: | 1 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: | 1 Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Moab, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath burnt the bones of the king of Edom even to ashes. | 1 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of his burning the bones of the king of Edom to lime, | 2 "So I will send fire upon Moab And it will consume the citadels of Kerioth; And Moab will die amid tumult, With war cries and the sound of a trumpet. | 2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: | 2 but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet; | 2 And I will seed a fire into Moab, and it shall devour the houses of Carioth: and Moab shall die with a noise, with the sound of the trumpet: | 2 And I have sent a fire against Moab, And it hath consumed the palaces of Kerioth, And dying with noise is Moab, With shouting, with voice of a trumpet. | 3 "I will also cut off the judge from her midst And slay all her princes with him," says the LORD. | 3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD. | 3 and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah. | 3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all his princes with him, saith the Lord. | 3 And I have cut off a judge from her midst, And all its heads I slay with him, said Jehovah. | 4 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Judah and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they rejected the law of the LORD And have not kept His statutes; Their lies also have led them astray, Those after which their fathers walked. | 4 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked: | 4 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk: | 4 Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Juda, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath cast away the law of the Lord, and hath not kept his commandments: for their idols have caused them to err, after which their fathers have walked. | 4 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, And for four, I do not reserve it, Because of their loathing the law of Jehovah, And His statutes they have not kept, And their lies do cause them to err, After which their fathers did walk, | 5 "So I will send fire upon Judah And it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem." | 5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. | 5 but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. | 5 And I will send a fire into Juda, and it shall devour the houses of Jerusalem. | 5 And I have sent a fire against Judah, And it hath consumed palaces of Jerusalem. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 6 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Israel and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for money And the needy for a pair of sandals. | 6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes; | 6 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes- | 6 Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Israel, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath sold the just man for silver, and the poor man for a pair of shoes. | 6 Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their selling for silver the righteous, And the needy for a pair of sandals. | 7 "These who pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the helpless Also turn aside the way of the humble; And a man and his father resort to the same girl In order to profane My holy name. | 7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name: | 7 they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the'same maiden, to profane my holy name: | 7 They bruise the heads of the poor upon the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the humble: and the son and his father have gone to the same young woman, to profane my holy name. | 7 Who are panting for the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, And the way of the humble they turn aside, And a man and his father go unto the damsel, So as to pollute My holy name. | 8 "On garments taken as pledges they stretch out beside every altar, And in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined. | 8 And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god. | 8 and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined. | 8 And they sat down upon garments laid to pledge by every altar: and drank the wine of the condemned in the house of their God. | 8 And on pledged garments they stretch themselves near every altar, And the wine of fined ones they drink in the house of their gods. | 9 "Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, Though his height was like the height of cedars And he was strong as the oaks; I even destroyed his fruit above and his root below. | 9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. | 9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. | 9 Yet I cast out the Amorrhite before their face: whose height was like the height of cedars, and who was strong as an oak: and I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots beneath. | 9 And I -- I have destroyed the Amorite from before them, Whose height is as the height of cedars, And strong he is as the oaks, And I destroy his fruit from above, And his roots from beneath. | 10 "It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And I led you in the wilderness forty years That you might take possession of the land of the Amorite. | 10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. | 10 Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. | 10 It is I that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and I led you forty years through the wilderness, that you might possess the land of the Amorrhite. | 10 And I -- I have brought you up from the land of Egypt, And cause you to go in a wilderness forty years, To possess the land of the Amorite. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 11 "Then I raised up some of your sons to be prophets And some of your young men to be Nazirites. Is this not so, O sons of Israel?" declares the LORD. | 11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD. | 11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah. | 11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not so, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord? | 11 And I raise of your sons for prophets, And of your choice ones for Nazarites, Is not this true, O sons of Israel? An affirmation of Jehovah. | 12 "But you made the Nazirites drink wine, And you commanded the prophets saying, 'You shall not prophesy!' | 12 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. | 12 But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. | 12 And you will present wine to the Nazarites: and command the prophets, saying: Prophesy not. | 12 And ye cause the Nazarites to drink wine, And on the prophets ye have laid a charge, Saying, 'Do not prophecy!' | 13 "Behold, I am weighted down beneath you As a wagon is weighted down when filled with sheaves. | 13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. | 13 Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves. | 13 Behold, I will screak under you as a wain screaketh that is laden with hay. | 13 Lo, I am pressing you under, As the full cart doth press for itself a sheaf. | 14 "Flight will perish from the swift, And the stalwart will not strengthen his power, Nor the mighty man save his life. | 14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: | 14 And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself; | 14 And flight shall perish from the swift, and the valiant shall not possess his strength, neither shall the strong save his life. | 14 And perished hath refuge from the swift, And the strong strengtheneth not his power, And the mighty delivereth not his soul. | 15 "He who grasps the bow will not stand his ground, The swift of foot will not escape, Nor will he who rides the horse save his life. | 15 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. | 15 neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself ; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself; | 15 And he that holdeth the bow shall not stand, and the swift of foot shall not escape, neither shall the rider of the horse save his life. | 15 And the handler of the bow standeth not, And the swift with his feet delivereth not himself, And the rider of the horse delivereth not his soul. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
