 Woe to those who are at ease in Zion And to those who feel secure in the mountain of Samaria, The distinguished men of the foremost of nations, To whom the house of Israel comes.1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!1 Woe to you that are wealthy in Sion, and to you that have confidence in the mountain of Samaria: ye great men, heads of the people, that go in with state into the house of Israel. 1 Woe to those secure in Zion, And those confident in the mount of Samaria, The marked of the chief of the nations, And come to them have the house of Israel.
 Go over to Calneh and look, And go from there to Hamath the great, Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms, Or is their territory greater than yours?2 Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?2 Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?2 Pass ye over to Chalane, and see, and go from thence into Emath the great: and go down into Geth of the Philistines, and to all the best kingdoms of these: if their border be larger than your border. 2 Pass ye over to Calneh and see, And go thence to Hamath the great, And go down to Gath of the Philistines, Are they better than these kingdoms? Greater is their border than your border?
 Do you put off the day of calamity, And would you bring near the seat of violence?3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;3 -ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;3 You that are separated unto the evil day: and that approach to the throne of iniquity; 3 Who are putting away the day of evil, And ye bring nigh the seat of violence,
 Those who recline on beds of ivory And sprawl on their couches, And eat lambs from the flock And calves from the midst of the stall,4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;4 that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;4 You that sleep upon beds of ivory, and are wanton on your couches: that eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the herd; 4 Who are lying down on beds of ivory, And are spread out on their couches, And are eating lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the stall,
 Who improvise to the sound of the harp, And like David have composed songs for themselves,5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;5 that sing idle songs to the sound of the viol; that invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;5 You that sing to the sound of the psaltery: they have thought themselves to have instruments of music like David; 5 Who are taking part according to the psaltery, Like David they invented for themselves instruments of music;
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
 Who drink wine from sacrificial bowls While they anoint themselves with the finest of oils, Yet they have not grieved over the ruin of Joseph.6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.6 that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best ointments: and they are not concerned for the affliction of Joseph. 6 Who are drinking with bowls of wine, And with chief perfumes anoint themselves, And have not been pained for the breach of Joseph.
 Therefore, they will now go into exile at the head of the exiles, And the sprawlers' banqueting will pass away.7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.7 Therefore shall they now go captive with the first that go captive; and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.7 Wherefore now they shall go captive at the head of them that go into captivity: and the faction of the luxurious ones shall be taken away. 7 Therefore now they remove at the head of the captives, And turned aside is the mourning-feast of stretched-out ones.
 The Lord GOD has sworn by Himself, the LORD God of hosts has declared: "I loathe the arrogance of Jacob, And detest his citadels; Therefore I will deliver up the city and all it contains."8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.8 The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.8 The Lord God hath sworn by his own soul, saith the Lord the God of hosts: I detest the pride of Jacob, and I hate his houses, and I will deliver up the city with the inhabitants thereof. 8 Sworn hath the Lord Jehovah by Himself, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts: I am abominating the excellency of Jacob, And his high places I have hated, And I have delivered up the city and its fulness.
 And it will be, if ten men are left in one house, they will die.9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.9 And if there remain ten men in one house, they also shall die. 9 And if there are left ten persons in one house, It hath come to pass -- that they have died.
 Then one's uncle, or his undertaker, will lift him up to carry out his bones from the house, and he will say to the one who is in the innermost part of the house, "Is anyone else with you?" And that one will say, "No one." Then he will answer, "Keep quiet. For the name of the LORD is not to be mentioned."10 And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.10 And when a man's uncle shall take him up, even he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No; then shall he say, Hold thy peace; for we may not make mention of the name of Jehovah.10 And a man's kinsman shall take him up, and shall burn him, that he may carry the bones out of the house; and he shall say to him that is in the inner rooms of the house: Is there yet any with thee? And he shall answer: There is an end. And he shall any to him: Hold thy peace, and mention not the name of the Lord. 10 And lifted him up hath his loved one, even his burner, To bring forth the bones from the house, And he said to him who is in the sides of the house, 'Is there yet with thee?' And he said, 'None,' then he said, 'Hush! Save to make mention of the name of Jehovah.'
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
 For behold, the LORD is going to command that the great house be smashed to pieces and the small house to fragments.11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.11 For, behold, Jehovah commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten with breaches, and the little house with clefts.11 For behold the Lord hath commanded, and he will strike the greater house with breaches, and the lesser house with clefts. 11 For lo, Jehovah is commanding, And He hath smitten the great house with breaches, And the little house with clefts.
 Do horses run on rocks? Or does one plow them with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into poison And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;12 Can horses run upon the rocks, or can any one plough with buffles? for you have turned judgment into bitterness, and the fruit of justice into wormwood. 12 Do horses run on a rock? Doth one plough it with oxen? For ye have turned to gall judgment, And the fruit of righteousness to wormwood.
 You who rejoice in Lodebar, And say, "Have we not by our own strength taken Karnaim for ourselves?"13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?13 ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?13 You that rejoice in a thing of nought: you that say: Have we not taken unto us horns by our own strength? 13 O ye who are rejoicing at nothing, Who are saying, 'Have we not by our strength taken to ourselves horns?'
 "For behold, I am going to raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel," declares the LORD God of hosts, "And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath To the brook of the Arabah."14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.14 For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of the Arabah.14 But behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall destroy you from the entrance of Emath, even to the torrent of the desert. 14 Surely, lo, I am raising against you a nation, O house of Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts, And they have oppressed you from the coming in to Hamath, Unto the stream of the desert.
