Job Feels Insulted
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Then Job responded,1 Then Job answered and said,1 Then Job answered and said,1 Then Job answered , and said: 1 And Job answereth and saith: --
2 "How long will you torment me And crush me with words?2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?2 How long will ye vex my soul, And break me in pieces with words?2 How long do you afflict my soul, and break me in pieces with words? 2 Till when do ye afflict my soul, And bruise me with words?
3 "These ten times you have insulted me; You are not ashamed to wrong me.3 These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.3 These ten times have ye reproached me: Ye are not ashamed that ye deal hardly with me.3 Behold, these ten times you confound me, and are not ashamed to oppress me. 3 These ten times ye put me to shame, ye blush not. Ye make yourselves strange to me --
4 "Even if I have truly erred, My error lodges with me.4 And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.4 And be it indeed that I have erred, Mine error remaineth with myself.4 For if I have been ignorant, my ignorance shall be with me. 4 And also -- truly, I have erred, With me doth my error remain.
5 "If indeed you vaunt yourselves against me And prove my disgrace to me,5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, And plead against me my reproach;5 But you have set yourselves up against me, and reprove me with my reproaches. 5 If, truly, over me ye magnify yourselves, And decide against me my reproach;
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 Know then that God has wronged me And has closed His net around me.6 Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.6 Know now that God hath subverted me in my cause , And hath compassed me with his net.6 At least now understand, that God hath not afflicted me with an equal judgment, and compassed me with his scourges. 6 Know now, that God turned me upside down, And His net against me hath set round,
Everything Is against Him
7 "Behold, I cry, 'Violence!' but I get no answer; I shout for help, but there is no justice.7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry for help, but there is no justice.7 Behold I cry suffering violence, and no one will hear: I shall cry aloud, and there is none to judge. 7 Lo, I cry out -- violence, and am not answered, I cry aloud, and there is no judgment.
8 "He has walled up my way so that I cannot pass, And He has put darkness on my paths.8 He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.8 He hath walled up my way that I cannot pass, And hath set darkness in my paths.8 He hath hedged in my path round about, and I cannot pass, and in my way he hath set darkness. 8 My way He hedged up, and I pass not over, And on my paths darkness He placeth.
9 "He has stripped my honor from me And removed the crown from my head.9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.9 He hath stripped me of my glory, And taken the crown from my head.9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and hath taken the crown from my head. 9 Mine honour from off me He hath stripped, And He turneth the crown from my head.
10 "He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone; And He has uprooted my hope like a tree.10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.10 He hath broken me down on every side, and I am gone; And my hope hath he plucked up like a tree.10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am lost, and he hath taken away my hope, as from a tree that is plucked up. 10 He breaketh me down round about, and I go, And removeth like a tree my hope.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 "He has also kindled His anger against me And considered me as His enemy.11 He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.11 He hath also kindled his wrath against me, And he counteth me unto him as one of his adversaries.11 His wrath is kindled against me, and he hath counted me as his enemy. 11 And He kindleth against me His anger, And reckoneth me to Him as His adversaries.
12 "His troops come together, And build up their way against me And camp around my tent.12 His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.12 His troops come on together, And cast up their way against me, And encamp round about my tent.12 His troops have come together, and have made themselves a way by me, and have besieged my tabernacle round about. 12 Come in do His troops together, And they raise up against me their way, And encamp round about my tent.
13 "He has removed my brothers far from me, And my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.13 He hath put my brethren far from me, And mine acquaintance are wholly estranged from me.13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintance like strangers have departed from me. 13 My brethren from me He hath put far off, And mine acquaintances surely Have been estranged from me.
14 "My relatives have failed, And my intimate friends have forgotten me.14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.14 My kinsfolk have failed, And my familiar friends have forgotten me.14 My kinsmen have forsaken me, and they that knew me, have forgotten me. 14 Ceased have my neighbours And my familiar friends have forgotten me,
15 "Those who live in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am a foreigner in their sight.15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.15 They that dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger; I am an alien in their sight.15 They that dwelt in my house, and my maidservants have counted me a stranger, and I have been like an alien in their eyes. 15 Sojourners of my house and my maids, For a stranger reckon me: An alien I have been in their eyes.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
16 "I call to my servant, but he does not answer; I have to implore him with my mouth.16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.16 I call unto my servant, and he giveth me no answer, Though I entreat him with my mouth.16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer, I entreated him with my own mouth. 16 To my servant I have called, And he doth not answer, With my mouth I make supplication to him.
17 "My breath is offensive to my wife, And I am loathsome to my own brothers.17 My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.17 My breath is strange to my wife, And my supplication to the children of mine own mother.17 My wife hath abhorred my breath, and I entreated the children of my womb. 17 My spirit is strange to my wife, And my favours to the sons of my mother's womb.
18 "Even young children despise me; I rise up and they speak against me.18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.18 Even young children despise me; If I arise, they speak against me.18 Even fools despise me; and when I gone from them, they spoke against me. 18 Also sucklings have despised me, I rise, and they speak against me.
19 "All my associates abhor me, And those I love have turned against me.19 All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.19 All my familiar friends abhor me, And they whom I loved are turned against me.19 They that were sometime my counsellors, have abhorred me: and he whom I love most is turned against me. 19 Abominate me do all the men of my counsel, And those I have loved, Have been turned against me.
20 "My bone clings to my skin and my flesh, And I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, And I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.20 The flesh being consumed. My bone hath cleaved to my skin, and nothing but lips are left about my teeth. 20 To my skin and to my flesh Cleaved hath my bone, And I deliver myself with the skin of my teeth.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
21 "Pity me, pity me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me.21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; For the hand of God hath touched me.21 Have pity on me, have pity on me, at least you my friends, because the hand of the Lord hath touched me. 21 Pity me, pity me, ye my friends, For the hand of God hath stricken against me.
22 "Why do you persecute me as God does, And are not satisfied with my flesh?22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?22 Why do ye persecute me as God, And are not satisfied with my flesh?22 Why do you persecute me as God, and glut yourselves with my flesh? 22 Why do you pursue me as God? And with my flesh are not satisfied?
Job Says, “My Redeemer Lives”
23 "Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!23 Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!23 Who will grant me that my words may be written? Who will grant me that they may be marked down in a book? 23 Who doth grant now, That my words may be written? Who doth grant that in a book they may be graven?
24 "That with an iron stylus and lead They were engraved in the rock forever!24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!24 That with an iron pen and lead They were graven in the rock for ever!24 With an iron pen and in a plate of lead, or else be graven with an instrument in flint stone. 24 With a pen of iron and lead -- For ever in a rock they may be hewn.
25 "As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:25 But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth, And at last he will stand up upon the earth:25 For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth. 25 That -- I have known my Redeemer, The Living and the Last, For the dust he doth rise.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
26 "Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God;26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:26 And after my skin, even this body , is destroyed, Then without my flesh shall I see God;26 And I shall be clothed again with my skin, and in my flesh I will see my God. 26 And after my skin hath compassed this body, Then from my flesh I see God:
27 Whom I myself shall behold, And whom my eyes will see and not another. My heart faints within me!27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.27 Whom I, even I, shall see, on my side, And mine eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger. My heart is consumed within me.27 Whom I myself shall see, and my eyes shall behold, and not another: this my hope is laid up in my bosom. 27 Whom I -- I see on my side, And mine eyes have beheld, and not a stranger, Consumed have been my reins in my bosom.
28 "If you say, 'How shall we persecute him?' And 'What pretext for a case against him can we find?'28 But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?28 If ye say, How we will persecute him! And that the root of the matter is found in me;28 Why then do you say now: Let us persecute him, and let us find occasion of word against him? 28 But ye say, 'Why do we pursue after him?' And the root of the matter hath been found in me.
29 "Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves, For wrath brings the punishment of the sword, So that you may know there is judgment."29 Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.29 Be ye afraid of the sword: For wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, That ye may know there is a judgment.29 Flee then from the face of the sword, for the sword is the revenger of iniquities: and know ye that there is judgment. 29 Be ye afraid because of the sword, For furious are the punishments of the sword, That ye may know that there is a judgment.
