NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 1 "At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place. | 1 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. | 1 Yea, at this my heart trembleth, And is moved out of its place. | 1 At this my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place. | 1 Also, at this my heart trembleth, And it moveth from its place. | 2 "Listen closely to the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth. | 2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. | 2 Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice, And the sound that goeth out of his mouth. | 2 Hear ye attentively the terror of his voice, and the sound that cometh out of his mouth. | 2 Hearken diligently to the trembling of His voice, Yea, the sound from His mouth goeth forth. | 3 "Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, And His lightning to the ends of the earth. | 3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. | 3 He sendeth it forth under the whole heaven, And his lightening unto the ends of the earth. | 3 He beholdeth under all the heavens, and his light is upon the ends of the earth. | 3 Under the whole heavens He directeth it, And its light is over the skirts of the earth. | 4 "After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard. | 4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. | 4 After it a voice roareth; He thundereth with the voice of his majesty; And he restraineth not the lightnings when his voice is heard. | 4 After it a noise shall roar, he shall thunder with the voice of his majesty, and shall not be found out, when his voice shall be heard. | 4 After it roar doth a voice -- He thundereth with the voice of His excellency, And He doth not hold them back, When His voice is heard. | 5 "God thunders with His voice wondrously, Doing great things which we cannot comprehend. | 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. | 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; Great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. | 5 God shall thunder wonderfully with his voice, he that doth great and unsearchable things. | 5 God thundereth with His voice wonderfully, Doing great things and we know not. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 6 "For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth,' And to the downpour and the rain, 'Be strong.' | 6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. | 6 For he saith to the snow, Fall thou on the earth; Likewise to the shower of rain, And to the showers of his mighty rain. | 6 He commandeth the snow to go down upon the earth, and the winter rain, and the shower of his strength. | 6 For to snow He saith, 'Be on the earth.' And the small rain and great rain of His power. | 7 "He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work. | 7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work. | 7 He sealeth up the hand of every man, That all men whom he hath made may know it . | 7 He sealeth up the hand of all men, that every one may know his works. | 7 Into the hand of every man he sealeth, For the knowledge by all men of His work. | 8 "Then the beast goes into its lair And remains in its den. | 8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. | 8 Then the beasts go into coverts, And remain in their dens. | 8 Then the beast shall go into his covert, and shall abide in his den. | 8 And enter doth the beast into covert, And in its habitations it doth continue. | 9 "Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. | 9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. | 9 Out of the chamber of the south cometh the storm, And cold out of the north. | 9 Out of the inner parts shall a tempest come, and cold out of the north. | 9 From the inner chamber cometh a hurricane, And from scatterings winds -- cold, | 10 "From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen. | 10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. | 10 By the breath of God ice is given; And the breadth of the waters is straitened. | 10 When God bloweth there cometh frost, and again the waters are poured out abundantly. | 10 From the breath of God is frost given, And the breadth of waters is straitened, | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 11 "Also with moisture He loads the thick cloud; He disperses the cloud of His lightning. | 11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: | 11 Yea, he ladeth the thick cloud with moisture; He spreadeth abroad the cloud of his lightning: | 11 Corn desireth clouds, and the clouds spread their light : | 11 Yea, by filling He doth press out a cloud, Scatter a cloud doth His light. | 12 "It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it On the face of the inhabited earth. | 12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. | 12 And it is turned round about by his guidance, That they may do whatsoever he commandeth them Upon the face of the habitable world, | 12 Which go round about, whithersoever the will of him that governeth them shall lead them, to whatsoever he shall command them upon the face of the whole earth : | 12 And it is turning itself round by His counsels, For their doing all He commandeth them, On the face of the habitable earth. | 13 "Whether for correction, or for His world, Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen. | 13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. | 13 Whether it be for correction, or for his land, Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come. | 13 Whether in one tribe, or in his own land, or in what place soever of his mercy he shall command them to be found. | 13 Whether for a rod, or for His land, Or for kindness -- He doth cause it to come. | 14 "Listen to this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God. | 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. | 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. | 14 Hearken to these things, Job : Stand, and consider the wondrous works of God. | 14 Hear this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God. | 15 "Do you know how God establishes them, And makes the lightning of His cloud to shine? | 15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? | 15 Dost thou know how God layeth his charge upon them, And causeth the lightning of his cloud to shine? | 15 Dost thou know when God commanded the rains, to shew his light of his clouds? | 15 Dost thou know when God doth place them, And caused to shine the light of His cloud? | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 16 "Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, The wonders of one perfect in knowledge, | 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? | 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, The wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge? | 16 Knowest thou the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect knowledges? | 16 Dost thou know the balancings of a cloud? The wonders of the Perfect in knowledge? | 17 You whose garments are hot, When the land is still because of the south wind? | 17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? | 17 How thy garments are warm, When the earth is still by reason of the south wind ? | 17 Are not thy garments hot, when the south wind blows upon the earth? | 17 How thy garments are warm, In the quieting of the earth from the south? | 18 "Can you, with Him, spread out the skies, Strong as a molten mirror? | 18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? | 18 Canst thou with him spread out the sky, Which is strong as a molten mirror? | 18 Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass. | 18 Thou hast made an expanse with Him For the clouds -- strong as a hard mirror! | 19 "Teach us what we shall say to Him; We cannot arrange our case because of darkness. | 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. | 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; For we cannot set our speech in order by reason of darkness. | 19 Shew us what we may say to him : for we are wrapped up in darkness. | 19 Let us know what we say to Him, We set not in array because of darkness. | 20 "Shall it be told Him that I would speak? Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up? | 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. | 20 Shall it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up? | 20 Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up. | 20 Is it declared to Him that I speak? If a man hath spoken, surely he is swallowed up. | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 21 "Now men do not see the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind has passed and cleared them. | 21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. | 21 And now men see not the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind passeth, and cleareth them. | 21 But now they see not the light : the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away. | 21 And now, they have not seen the light, Bright it is in the clouds, And the wind hath passed by and cleanseth them. | 22 "Out of the north comes golden splendor; Around God is awesome majesty. | 22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty. | 22 Out of the north cometh golden splendor: God hath upon him terrible majesty. | 22 Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear. | 22 From the golden north it cometh, Beside God is fearful honour. | 23 "The Almighty-- we cannot find Him; He is exalted in power And He will not do violence to justice and abundant righteousness. | 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. | 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out He is excellent in power; And in justice and plenteous righteousness he will not afflict. | 23 We cannot find him worthily : he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable. | 23 The Mighty! we have not found Him out, High in power and judgment, He doth not answer! And abundant in righteousness, | 24 "Therefore men fear Him; He does not regard any who are wise of heart." | 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. | 24 Men do therefore fear him: He regardeth not any that are wise of heart. | 24 Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him. | 24 Therefore do men fear Him, He seeth not any of the wise of heart. |
