Job: What Can I Say?
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Then the LORD said to Job,1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,1 Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,1 And the Lord went on, and said to Job : 1 And Jehovah doth answer Job, and saith: --
2 "Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it."2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.2 Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.2 Shall he that contendeth with God be so easily silenced? surely he that reproveth God, ought to answer him. 2 Is the striver with the Mighty instructed? The reprover of God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the LORD and said,3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,3 Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said : 3 And Job answereth Jehovah, and saith: --
4 "Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth.4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.4 Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.4 4 Lo, I have been vile, What do I return to Thee? My hand I have placed on my mouth.
5 "Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; Even twice, and I will add nothing more."5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.5 Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.5 One thing I have spoken, which I wish I had not said : and another, to which I will add no more. 5 Once I have spoken, and I answer not, And twice, and I add not.
God Questions Job
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm and said,6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,6 Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,6 And the Lord answering Job out of the whirlwind, said : 6 And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: --
7 "Now gird up your loins like a man; I will ask you, and you instruct Me.7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.7 Gird up thy loins like a man : I will ask thee, and do thou tell me. 7 Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.
8 "Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?8 Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?8 Wilt thou make void my judgment : and condemn me, that thou mayst be justified? 8 Dost thou also make void My judgment? Dost thou condemn Me, That thou mayest be righteous?
9 "Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?9 Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?9 And hast thou an arm like God, and canst thou thunder with a voice like him? 9 And an arm like God hast thou? And with a voice like Him dost thou thunder?
10 "Adorn yourself with eminence and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.10 Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majesty.10 Clothe thyself with beauty, and set thyself up on high and be glorious, and put on goodly garments. 10 Put on, I pray thee, excellency and loftiness, Yea, honour and beauty put on.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 "Pour out the overflowings of your anger, And look on everyone who is proud, and make him low.11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.11 Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.11 Scatter the proud in thy indignation, and behold every arrogant man, and humble him. 11 Scatter abroad the wrath of thine anger, And see every proud one, and make him low.
12 "Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him, And tread down the wicked where they stand.12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; And tread down the wicked where they stand.12 Look on all that are proud, and confound them, and crush the wicked in their place. 12 See every proud one -- humble him, And tread down the wicked in their place.
13 "Hide them in the dust together; Bind them in the hidden place.13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.13 Hide them in the dust together; Bind their faces in the hidden place .13 Hide them in the dust together, and plunge their faces into the pit. 13 Hide them in the dust together, Their faces bind in secret.
14 "Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.14 Then will I also confess of thee That thine own right hand can save thee.14 Then I will confess that thy right hand is able to save thee. 14 And even I -- I do praise thee, For thy right hand giveth salvation to thee.
God’s Power Shown in Creatures
15 "Behold now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox.15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.15 Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee; He eateth grass as an ox.15 Behold behemoth whom I made with thee, he eateth grass like an ox. 15 Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
16 "Behold now, his strength in his loins And his power in the muscles of his belly.16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the muscles of his belly.16 His strength is in his loins, and his force in the navel of his belly. 16 Lo, I pray thee, his power is in his loins, And his strength in the muscles of his belly.
17 "He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together.17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together.17 He setteth up his tail like a cedar, the sinews of his testicles are wrapped together. 17 He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,
18 "His bones are tubes of bronze; His limbs are like bars of iron.18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.18 His bones are as tubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of iron.18 His bones are like pipes of brass, his gristle like plates of iron. 18 His bones are tubes of brass, His bones are as a bar of iron.
19 "He is the first of the ways of God; Let his maker bring near his sword.19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.19 He is the chief of the ways of God: He only that made him giveth him his sword.19 He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him, he will apply his sword. 19 He is a beginning of the ways of God, His Maker bringeth nigh his sword;
20 "Surely the mountains bring him food, And all the beasts of the field play there.20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field do play.20 To him the mountains bring forth grass : there all the beasts of the field shall play. 20 For food do mountains bear for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
21 "Under the lotus plants he lies down, In the covert of the reeds and the marsh.21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.21 He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and the fen.21 He sleepeth under the shadow, in the covert of the reed, and in moist places. 21 Under shades he lieth down, In a secret place of reed and mire.
22 "The lotus plants cover him with shade; The willows of the brook surround him.22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.22 The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about.22 The shades cover his shadow, the willows of the brook shall compass him about. 22 Cover him do shades, with their shadow, Cover him do willows of the brook.
23 "If a river rages, he is not alarmed; He is confident, though the Jordan rushes to his mouth.23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.23 Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.23 Behold, he will drink up a river, and not wonder : and he trusteth that the Jordan may run into his mouth. 23 Lo, a flood oppresseth -- he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.
24 "Can anyone capture him when he is on watch, With barbs can anyone pierce his nose?24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.24 Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare?24 In his eyes as with a hook he shall take him, and bore through his nostrils with stakes. 24 Before his eyes doth one take him, With snares doth one pierce the nose?
