Jonah’s Prayer
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the stomach of the fish,1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,1 Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly.1 And Jonas prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish. 1 And Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish.
2 and he said, "I called out of my distress to the LORD, And He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice.2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.2 And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And thou heardest my voice.2 And he said: I cried out of my affliction to the Lord, and he heard me: I cried out of the belly of hell, and thou hast heard my voice. 2 And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice.
3 "For You had cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current engulfed me. All Your breakers and billows passed over me.3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.3 For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.3 And thou hast cast me forth into the deep in the heart of the sea, and a flood hath compassed me: all thy billows, and thy waves have passed over me. 3 When Thou dost cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.
4 "So I said, 'I have been expelled from Your sight. Nevertheless I will look again toward Your holy temple.'4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.4 And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.4 And I said: I am cast away out of the sight of thy eyes: but yet I shall see thy holy temple again. 4 And I -- I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)
5 "Water encompassed me to the point of death. The great deep engulfed me, Weeds were wrapped around my head.5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.5 The waters compassed me about even to the soul: the deep hath closed me round about, the sea hath covered my head. 5 Compassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 "I descended to the roots of the mountains. The earth with its bars was around me forever, But You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.6 I went down to the lowest parts of the mountains: the bars of the earth have shut me up for ever: and thou wilt bring up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. 6 To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars are behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.
7 "While I was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, And my prayer came to You, Into Your holy temple.7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.7 When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.7 When my soul was in distress within me, I remembered the Lord: that my prayer may come to thee, unto thy holy temple. 7 In the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple.
8 "Those who regard vain idols Forsake their faithfulness,8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.8 They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.8 They that are vain observe vanities, forsake their own mercy. 8 Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake.
9 But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the LORD."9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.9 But I with the voice of praise will sacrifice to thee: I will pay whatsoever I have vowed for my salvation to the Lord. 9 And I -- with a voice of thanksgiving -- I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation is of Jehovah.
10 Then the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.10 And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.10 And the Lord spoke to the fish: and it vomited out Jonas upon the dry land. 10 And Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land.
