Prayer for Rescue from Enemies.A Psalm of David.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
A Psalm of David. Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; Fight against those who fight against me.1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.1 Strive thou, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me: Fight thou against them that fight against me.1 For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me : overthrow them that fight against me. 1 By David. Strive, Jehovah, with my strivers, fight with my fighters,
Take hold of buckler and shield And rise up for my help.2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.2 Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help.2 Take hold of arms and shield : and rise up to help me. 2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise for my help,
Draw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me; Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me: Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.3 Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me : say to my soul : I am thy salvation. 3 And draw out spear and lance, To meet my pursuers. Say to my soul, 'Thy salvation I am.'
Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; Let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me.4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.4 Let them be put to shame and brought to dishonor that seek after my soul: Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt.4 Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise against me. 4 They are ashamed and blush, those seeking my soul, Turned backward and confounded, Those devising my evil.
Let them be like chaff before the wind, With the angel of the LORD driving them on.5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.5 Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving them on.5 Let them become as dust before the wind : and let the angel of the Lord straiten them. 5 They are as chaff before wind, And a messenger of Jehovah driving away.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
Let their way be dark and slippery, With the angel of the LORD pursuing them.6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.6 Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.6 Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them. 6 Their way is darkness and slipperiness, And a messenger of Jehovah their pursuer.
For without cause they hid their net for me; Without cause they dug a pit for my soul.7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit; Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.7 For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction : without cause they have upbraided my soul. 7 For without cause they hid for me their netpit, Without cause they digged for my soul.
Let destruction come upon him unawares, And let the net which he hid catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.8 Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: With destruction let him fall therein.8 Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and into that very snare let them fall. 8 Meet him doth desolation -- he knoweth not, And his net that he hid catcheth him, For desolation he falleth into it.
And my soul shall rejoice in the LORD; It shall exult in His salvation.9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.9 And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah: It shall rejoice in his salvation.9 But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation. 9 And my soul is joyful in Jehovah, It rejoiceth in His salvation.
All my bones will say, "LORD, who is like You, Who delivers the afflicted from him who is too strong for him, And the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?"10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?10 All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him?10 All my bones shall say : Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him. 10 All my bones say, 'Jehovah, who is like Thee, Delivering the poor from the stronger than he, And the poor and needy from his plunderer.'
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
Malicious witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I do not know.11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.11 Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.11 Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not. 11 Violent witnesses rise up, That which I have not known they ask me.
They repay me evil for good, To the bereavement of my soul.12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.12 They reward me evil for good, To the bereaving of my soul.12 They repaid me evil for good : to the depriving me of my soul. 12 They pay me evil for good, bereaving my soul,
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, And my prayer kept returning to my bosom.13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom.13 But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom. 13 And I -- in their sickness my clothing is sackcloth, I have humbled with fastings my soul, And my prayer unto my bosom returneth.
I went about as though it were my friend or brother; I bowed down mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.14 I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother.14 As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please : as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled. 14 As if a friend, as if my brother, I walked habitually, As a mourner for a mother, Mourning I have bowed down.
 But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together; The smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me, They slandered me without ceasing.15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: The abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; They did tear me, and ceased not:15 But they rejoiced against me, and came together : scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not. 15 And -- in my halting they have rejoiced, And have been gathered together, Gathered against me were the smiters, And I have not known, They have rent, and they have not ceased;
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
Like godless jesters at a feast, They gnashed at me with their teeth.16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.16 Like the profane mockers in feasts, They gnashed upon me with their teeth.16 They were separated, and repented not : they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn : they gnashed upon me with their teeth. 16 With profane ones, mockers in feasts, Gnashing against me their teeth.
Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, My only life from the lions.17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, My darling from the lions.17 Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou soul from their malice : my only one from the lions. 17 Lord, how long dost thou behold? Keep back my soul from their desolations, From young lions my only one.
I will give You thanks in the great congregation; I will praise You among a mighty throng.18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.18 I will give thee thanks in the great assembly: I will praise thee among much people.18 I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people. 18 I thank Thee in a great assembly, Among a mighty people I praise Thee.
Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me; Nor let those who hate me without cause wink maliciously.19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.19 Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me : who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes. 19 Mine enemies rejoice not over me with falsehood, Those hating me without cause wink the eye.
For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.20 For they speak not peace; But they devise deceitful words against them that are quiet in the land.20 For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile. 20 For they speak not peace, And against the quiet of the land, Deceitful words they devise,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
They opened their mouth wide against me; They said, "Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!"21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me; They said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.21 And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said : Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it. 21 And they enlarge against me their mouth, They said, 'Aha, aha, our eye hath seen.'
You have seen it, O LORD, do not keep silent; O Lord, do not be far from me.22 This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.22 Thou hast seen it, O Jehovah; keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.22 Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent : O Lord, depart not from me. 22 Thou hast seen, O Jehovah, Be not silent, O Lord -- be not far from me,
Stir up Yourself, and awake to my right And to my cause, my God and my Lord.23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.23 Stir up thyself, and awake to the justice due unto me, Even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.23 Arise, and be attentive to my judgment : to my cause, my God, and my Lord. 23 Stir up, and wake to my judgment, My God, and my Lord, to my plea.
Judge me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness, And do not let them rejoice over me.24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.24 Judge me, O Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me.24 Judge me, O Lord my God according to thy justice, and let them not rejoice over me. 24 Judge me according to Thy righteousness, O Jehovah my God, And they do not rejoice over me.
Do not let them say in their heart, "Aha, our desire!" Do not let them say, "We have swallowed him up!"25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.25 Let them not say in their heart, Aha, so would we have it: Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.25 Let them not say in their hearts : It is well, it is well, to our mind : neither let them say : We have swallowed him up. 25 They do not say in their heart, 'Aha, our desire.' They do not say, 'We swallowed him up.'
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
Let those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress; Let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.26 Let them be put to shame and confounded together that rejoice at my hurt: Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.26 Let them blush : and be ashamed together, who rejoice at my evils. Let them be clothed with confusion and shame, who speak great things against me. 26 They are ashamed and confounded together, Who are rejoicing at my evil. They put on shame and confusion, Who are magnifying themselves against me.
Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication; And let them say continually, "The LORD be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant."27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: Yea, let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, Who hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.27 Let them rejoice and be glad, who are well pleased with my justice, and let them say always : The Lord be magnified, who delights in the peace of his servant. 27 They sing and rejoice, who are desiring my righteousness, And they say continually, 'Jehovah is magnified, Who is desiring the peace of His servant.'
And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness And Your praise all day long.28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.28 And my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness And of thy praise all the day long. 28 Any my tongue shall meditate thy justice, thy praise all the day long. 28 And my tongue uttereth Thy righteousness, All the day Thy praise!
