Your Attitude Toward God

1 Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God; for to draw nigh to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil.1 Keep thy foot, when thou goest into the house of God, and draw nigh to hear. 2 Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. 3 For the dream comes through much effort and the voice of a fool through many words.3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.3 For a dream cometh with a multitude of business, and a fool's voice with a multitude of words.3 Dreams follow many cares: and in many words shall be found folly. 3 For the dream hath come by abundance of business, and the voice of a fool by abundance of words.
4 When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. 5 It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.5 And it is much better not to vow, than after a vow not to perform the things promised. 5 Better that thou do not vow, than that thou dost vow and dost not complete.

6 Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. 7 For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.7 For in the multitude of dreams there are vanities, and in many words: but fear thou God.7 Where there are many dreams, there are many vanities, and words without number: but do thou fear God. 7 For, in the abundance of dreams both vanities and words abound; but fear thou God.
8 If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight; for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them.8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter: for one higher than the high regardeth; and there are higher than they.8 If thou shalt see the oppressions of the poor, and violent judgments, and justice perverted in the province, wonder not at this matter: for he that is high hath another higher, and there are others still higher than these: 8 If oppression of the poor, and violent taking away of judgment and righteousness thou seest in a province, do not marvel at the matter, for a higher than the high is observing, and high ones are over them.
9 After all, a king who cultivates the field is an advantage to the land.9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.9 Moreover there is the king that reigneth over all the land subject to him. 9 And the abundance of a land is for all. The Folly of Riches
10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.10 A covetous man shall not be satisfied with money: and he that loveth riches shall reap no fruit from them: so this also is vanity. 10 Whoso is loving silver is not satisfied with silver, nor he who is in love with stores with increase. Even this is vanity.

11 When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on?11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them; and what advantage is there to the owner thereof, save the beholding of them with his eyes?11 Where there are great riches, there are also many to eat them. And what doth it profit the owner, but that he seeth the riches with his eyes? 11 In the multiplying of good have its consumers been multiplied, and what benefit is to its possessor except the sight of his eyes?
12 The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.12 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much; but the fulness of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.12 Sleep is sweet to a labouring man, whether he eat lttle or much: but the fulness of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. 12 Sweet is the sleep of the labourer whether he eat little or much; and the sufficiency of the wealthy is not suffering him to sleep.
13 There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: riches being hoarded by their owner to his hurt.13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.13 There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun, namely , riches kept by the owner thereof to his hurt:13 There is also another grievous evil, which I have seen under the sun: riches kept to the hurt of the owner. 13 There is a painful evil I have seen under the sun: wealth kept for its possessor, for his evil.
14 When those riches were lost through a bad investment and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.14 and those riches perish by evil adventure; and if he hath begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand.14 For they are lost with very great affliction: he hath begotten a son, who shall be in extremity of want. 14 And that wealth hath been lost in an evil business, and he hath begotten a son and there is nothing in his hand!
15 As he had come naked from his mother's womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.15 As he came forth from his mother's womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand.15 As he came forth naked from his mother's womb, so shall he return, and shall take nothing away with him of his labour. 15 As he came out from the belly of his mother, naked he turneth back to go as he came, and he taketh not away anything of his labour, that doth go in his hand.

16 This also is a grievous evil-- exactly as a man is born, thus will he die. So what is the advantage to him who toils for the wind?16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?16 And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that he laboreth for the wind?16 A most deplorable evil: as he came, so shall he return. 17 Throughout his life he also eats in darkness with great vexation, sickness and anger.17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he is sore vexed, and hath sickness and wrath.17 All the days of his life he eateth in darkness, and in many cares, and in misery, and sorrow. 17 Also all his days in darkness he consumeth, and sadness, and wrath, and sickness abound.
18 Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward.18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.18 Behold, that which I have seen to be good and to be comely is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labor, wherein he laboreth under the sun, all the days of his life which God hath given him: for this is his portion.18 This therefore hath seemed good to me, that a man should eat and drink, and enjoy the fruit of his labour, wherewith he hath laboured under the sun, all the days of his life, which God hath given him: and this is his portion. 18 Lo, that which I have seen: It is good, because beautiful, to eat, and to drink, and to see good in all one's labour that he laboureth at under the sun, the number of the days of his life that God hath given to him, for it is his portion.
