Israel Reaps the Whirlwind
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle the enemy comes against the house of the LORD, Because they have transgressed My covenant And rebelled against My law.1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle he cometh against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.1 Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law. 1 'Unto thy mouth -- a trumpet, As an eagle against the house of Jehovah, Because they transgressed My covenant, And against My law they have rebelled.
2 They cry out to Me, "My God, we of Israel know You!"2 Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.2 They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee.2 They shall call upon me: O my God, we, Israel, know thee. 2 To Me they cry, 'My God, we -- Israel -- have known Thee.'
3 Israel has rejected the good; The enemy will pursue him.3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.3 Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good, the enemy shall pursue him. 3 Cast off good hath Israel, an enemy pursueth him.
4 They have set up kings, but not by Me; They have appointed princes, but I did not know it. With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves, That they might be cut off.4 They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.4 They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.4 They have reigned, but not by me: they have been princes, and I knew not: of their silver, and their gold they have made idols to themselves, that they might perish. 4 They have made kings, and not by Me, They have made princes, and I have not known, Their silver and their gold they have made to them idols, So that they are cut off.
5 He has rejected your calf, O Samaria, saying, "My anger burns against them!" How long will they be incapable of innocence?5 Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?5 He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?5 Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed ? 5 Cast off hath thy calf, O Samaria, Burned hath Mine anger against them, Till when are they not capable of purity?
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 For from Israel is even this! A craftsman made it, so it is not God; Surely the calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.6 For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.6 For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.6 For itself also is the invention of Israel: a workman made it, and it is no god: for the calf of Samaria shall be turned to spiders' webs. 6 For even it is of Israel; an artificer made it, And it is not God, For the calf of Samaria is fragments!
7 For they sow the wind And they reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; It yields no grain. Should it yield, strangers would swallow it up.7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.7 For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.7 For they shall sow wind, and reap a whirlwind, there is no standing stalk in it, the bud shall yield no meal; end if it should yield, strangers shall eat it. 7 For wind they sow, and a hurricane they reap, Stalk it hath none -- a shoot not yielding grain, If so be it yield -- strangers do swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up; They are now among the nations Like a vessel in which no one delights.8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.8 Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth.8 Israel is swallowed up: now is he become among the nations like an unclean vessel. 8 Israel hath been swallowed up, Now they have been among nations, As a vessel in which is no delight.
9 For they have gone up to Assyria, Like a wild donkey all alone; Ephraim has hired lovers.9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.9 For they are gone up to Assyria, like a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers. 9 For they -- they have gone up to Asshur, A wild ass alone by himself is Ephraim, They have hired lovers!
10 Even though they hire allies among the nations, Now I will gather them up; And they will begin to diminish Because of the burden of the king of princes.10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.10 Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be diminished by reason of the burden of the king of princes.10 But even though they shall have hired the nations, now will I gather them together: and they shall rest a while from the burden of the king, and the princes. 10 Also though they hire among nations, Now I gather them, and they are pained a little, From the burden of a king of princes.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 Since Ephraim has multiplied altars for sin, They have become altars of sinning for him.11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.11 Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning.11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin: altars are become to him unto sin. 11 Because Ephraim did multiply altars to sin, They have been to him altars to sin.
12 Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, They are regarded as a strange thing.12 I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.12 I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing.12 I shall write to him my manifold laws, which have been accounted as foreign. 12 I write for him numerous things of My law, As a strange thing they have been reckoned.
13 As for My sacrificial gifts, They sacrifice the flesh and eat it, But the LORD has taken no delight in them. Now He will remember their iniquity, And punish them for their sins; They will return to Egypt.13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.13 As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.13 They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt. 13 The sacrifices of Mine offerings! They sacrifice flesh, and they eat, Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now doth He remember their iniquity, And inspect their sin, They -- to Egypt they turn back.
14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; And Judah has multiplied fortified cities, But I will send a fire on its cities that it may consume its palatial dwellings.14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.14 And Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and hath built temples: and Juda hath built many fenced cities: and I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the houses thereof. 14 And forget doth Israel his Maker, and buildeth temples, And Judah hath multiplied cities of defence, And I have sent a fire into his cities, And it hath consumed their palaces!
