Job Says God Will Deal with the Wicked

1 Then Job answered,1 But Job answered and said,1 Then Job answered and said,1 Then Job answered, and said: 1 And Job answereth and saith: --
2 "Listen carefully to my speech, And let this be your way of consolation.2 Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.2 Hear diligently my speech; And let this be your consolations.2 Hear, I beseech you, my words, and do penance. 2 Hear ye diligently my word, And this is your consolation.
3 "Bear with me that I may speak; Then after I have spoken, you may mock.3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.3 Suffer me, and I also will speak; And after that I have spoken, mock on.3 Suffer me, and I will speak, and after, if you please, laugh at my words. 3 Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking -- ye may deride.
4 "As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?4 As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?4 As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?4 Is my debate against man, that I should not have just reason to be troubled? 4 I -- to man is my complaint? and if so, wherefore May not my temper become short?
5 "Look at me, and be astonished, And put your hand over your mouth.5 Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.5 Mark me, and be astonished, And lay your hand upon your mouth.5 Hearken to me and be astonished, and lay your finger on your mouth. 5 Turn unto me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.

7 "Why do the wicked still live, Continue on, also become very powerful?7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?7 Wherefore do the wicked live, Become old, yea, wax mighty in power?7 Why then do the wicked live, are they advanced, and strengthened with riches? 7 Wherefore do the wicked live? They have become old, Yea, they have been mighty in wealth.
8 "Their descendants are established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes,8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.8 Their seed is established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes.8 Their seed continueth before them, a multitude of kinsmen, and of children's children in their sight. 8 Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.

14 "They say to God, 'Depart from us! 15 'Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, And what would we gain if we entreat Him?'15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what doth it profit us if we pray to him? 15 What is the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?'

17 "How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, Or does their calamity fall on them? Does God apportion destruction in His anger?17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.17 How oft is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity cometh upon them? That God distributeth sorrows in his anger?17 How often shall the lamp of the wicked be put out, and a deluge come upon them, and he shall distribute the sorrows of his wrath? 17 How oft is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And come on them doth their calamity? Pangs He apportioneth in His anger.
18 "Are they as straw before the wind, And like chaff which the storm carries away?18 They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.18 That they are as stubble before the wind, And as chaff that the storm carrieth away?18 They shall be as chaff before the face of the wind, and as ashes which the whirlwind scattereth. 18 They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a hurricane hath stolen away,
19 "You say, 'God stores away a man's iniquity for his sons.' Let God repay him so that he may know it.19 God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.19 Ye say , God layeth up his iniquity for his children. Let him recompense it unto himself, that he may know it:19 God shall lay up the sorrow of the father for his children: and when he shall repay, then shall he know. 19 God layeth up for his sons his sorrow, He giveth recompense unto him -- and he knoweth.

23 "One dies in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and satisfied;23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.23 One dieth in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and quiet:23 One man dieth strong, and hale, rich and happy. 23 This one dieth in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
24 His sides are filled out with fat, And the marrow of his bones is moist,24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.24 His pails are full of milk, And the marrow of his bones is moistened.24 His bowels are full of fat, and his bones are moistened with marrow. 24 His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow his bones doth moisten.

28 "For you say, 'Where is the house of the nobleman, And where is the tent, the dwelling places of the wicked?'28 For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?28 For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? And where is the tent wherein the wicked dwelt?28 For you say: Where is the house of the prince ? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked? 28 For ye say, 'Where is the house of the noble? And where the tent -- The tabernacles of the wicked?'
29 "Have you not asked wayfaring men, And do you not recognize their witness?29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,29 Have ye not asked wayfaring men? And do ye not know their evidences,29 Ask any one of them that go by the way, and you shall perceive that he knoweth these same things. 29 Have ye not asked those passing by the way? And their signs do ye not know?
30 "For the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity; They will be led forth at the day of fury.30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.30 That the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity? That they are led forth to the day of wrath?30 Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction, and he shall be brought to the day of wrath. 30 That to a day of calamity is the wicked spared. To a day of wrath they are brought.

And over the heap a watch is kept.
33 "The clods of the valley will gently cover him; Moreover, all men will follow after him, While countless ones go before him.33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, And all men shall draw after him, As there were innumerable before him.33 He hath been acceptable to the gravel of Cocytus, and he shall draw every man after him, and there are innumerable before him. 33 Sweet to him have been the clods of the valley, And after him every man he draweth, And before him there is no numbering.
34 "How then will you vainly comfort me, For your answers remain full of falsehood?"34 How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?34 How then comfort ye me in vain, Seeing in your answers there remaineth only falsehood?34 How then do ye comfort me in vain, whereas your answer is shewn to be repugnant to truth ? 34 And how do ye comfort me with vanity, And in your answers hath been left trespass?
