1 "These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.1 THESE things have I spoken to you, that you may not be scandalized. 1 'These things I have spoken to you, that ye may not be stumbled,
2 "They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.2 They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God. 2 out of the synagogues they will put you; but an hour doth come, that every one who hath killed you, may think to offer service unto God;
3 "These things they will do because they have not known the Father or Me.3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.3 And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.3 And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father, nor me. 3 and these things they will do to you, because they did not know the Father, nor me.
4 "But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.4 But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.4 But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them. 4 But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, ye may remember them, that I said them to you, and these things to you from the beginning I did not say, because I was with you;
The Holy Spirit Promised
5 "But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?5 But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?5 But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou? 5 and now I go away to Him who sent me, and none of you doth ask me, Whither dost thou go?

8 "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:8 And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:8 And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment. 8 and having come, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment;
9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;9 of sin, because they believe not on me;9 Of sin: because they believed not in me. 9 concerning sin indeed, because they do not believe in me;
10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;10 of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more;10 And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see me no longer. 10 and concerning righteousness, because unto my Father I go away, and no more do ye behold me;

13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these'shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you. 13 and when He may come -- the Spirit of truth -- He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you;
14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.14 He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you.14 He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you. 14 He will glorify me, because of mine He will take, and will tell to you.
15 "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.15 All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare it unto you.15 All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. 17 Some of His disciples then said to one another, "What is this thing He is telling us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father '?"17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?17 Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye behold me not; and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?17 Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father? 17 Therefore said some of his disciples one to another, 'What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away unto the Father?'
18 So they were saying, "What is this that He says, 'A little while '? We do not know what He is talking about."18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? We know not what he saith.18 They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh. 18 they said then, 'What is this he saith -- the little while? we have not known what he saith.'
19 Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me'?19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?19 Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?19 And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me? 19 Jesus, therefore, knew that they were wishing to ask him, and he said to them, 'Concerning this do ye seek one with another, because I said, A little while, and you do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
20 "Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy.20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.20 Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 20 verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow joy will become.

Prayer Promises
23 "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. 25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.25 These things have I spoken unto you in dark sayings: the hour cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in dark sayings, but shall tell you plainly of the Father.25 These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father. 25 'These things in similitudes I have spoken to you, but there cometh an hour when no more in similitudes will I speak to you, but freely of the Father, will tell you.
