A Prayer for the Overthrow of the Wicked.
|1 Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?||1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?||1 Why standest thou afar off, O Jehovah? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?||1 Why, O Lord, hast thou retired afar off? why dost thou slight us in our wants, in the time of trouble?||1 Why, Jehovah, dost Thou stand at a distance? Thou dost hide in times of adversity,||2 In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.||2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.||2 In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.||2 Whilst the wicked man is proud, the poor is set on fire: they are caught in the counsels which they devise.||2 Through the pride of the wicked, Is the poor inflamed, They are caught in devices that they devised.||3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD.||3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.||3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea , contemneth Jehovah.||3 For the sinner is praised in the desires of his soul: and the unjust man is blessed.||3 Because the wicked hath boasted Of the desire of his soul, And a dishonest gainer he hath blessed, He hath despised Jehovah.||4 The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God."||4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.||4 The wicked, in the pride of his countenance,'saith , He will not require it . All his thoughts are, There is no God.||4 The sinner hath provoked the Lord according to the multitude of his wrath he will not seek him:||4 The wicked according to the height of his face, inquireth not. 'God is not!' are all his devices.||5 His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.||5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.||5 His ways are firm at all times; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight: As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.||5 God is not before his eyes: his ways are filthy at all times. Thy judgments are removed from his sight: he shall rule over all his enemies.||5 Pain do his ways at all times, On high are Thy judgments before him, All his adversaries -- he puffeth at them.||NASB||KJV||ASV||DRB||YLT|
|6 He says to himself, "I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity."||6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.||6 He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; To all generations I shall not be in adversity.||6 For he hath said in his heart: I shall not be moved from generation to generation, and shall be without evil.||6 He hath said in his heart, 'I am not moved,' To generation and generation not in evil.||7 His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.||7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.||7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression: Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.||7 His mouth is full of cursing, and of bitterness, and of deceit: under his tongue are labour and sorrow.||7 Of oaths his mouth is full, And deceits, and fraud: Under his tongue is perverseness and iniquity,||8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.||8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.||8 He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; In the secret places doth he murder the innocent; His eyes are privily set against the helpless.||8 He sitteth in ambush with the rich in private places, that he may kill the innocent.||8 He doth sit in an ambush of the villages, In secret places he doth slay the innocent. His eyes for the afflicted watch secretly,||9 He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the afflicted; He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.||9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.||9 He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert; He lieth in wait to catch the poor: He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net.||9 His eyes are upon the poor man: He lieth in wait in secret like a lion in his den. He lieth in ambush that he may catch the poor man: to catch the poor, whilst he draweth him to him.||9 He lieth in wait in a secret place, as a lion in a covert. He lieth in wait to catch the poor, He catcheth the poor, drawing him into his net.||10 He crouches, he bows down, And the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones.||10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.||10 He croucheth, he boweth down, And the helpless fall by his strong ones.||10 In his net he will bring him down, he will crouch and fall, when he shall have power over the poor.||10 He is bruised -- he boweth down, Fallen by his mighty ones hath the afflicted.||NASB||KJV||ASV||DRB||YLT|
|11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it."||11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.||11 He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten; He hideth his face; he will never see it.||11 For he hath said in his heart: God hath forgotten, he hath turned away his face not to see to the end.||11 He said in his heart, 'God hath forgotten, He hath hid His face, He hath never seen.'||12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up Your hand. Do not forget the afflicted.||12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.||12 Arise, O Jehovah; O God, lift up thy hand: Forget not the poor.||12 Arise, O Lord God, let thy hand be exalted: forget not the poor.||12 Arise, O Jehovah! O God, lift up Thy hand! Forget not the humble.||13 Why has the wicked spurned God? He has said to himself, "You will not require it."||13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.||13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God, And say in his heart, Thou wilt not require it ?||13 Wherefore hath the wicked provoked God? for he hath said in his heart: He will not require it.||13 Wherefore hath the wicked despised God? He hath said in his heart, 'It is not required.'||14 You have seen it, for You have beheld mischief and vexation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan.||14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.||14 Thou hast seen it ; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: The helpless committeth himself unto thee; Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.||14 Thou seest it, for thou considerest labour and sorrow: that thou mayst deliver them into thy hands. To thee is the poor man left: thou wilt be a helper to the orphan.||14 Thou hast seen, For Thou perverseness and anger beholdest; By giving into Thy hand, On Thee doth the afflicted leave it, Of the fatherless Thou hast been an helper.||15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer, Seek out his wickedness until You find none.||15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.||15 Break thou the arm of the wicked; And as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till thou find none.||15 Break thou the arm of the sinner and of the malignant: his sin shall be sought, and shall not be found.||15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evil, Seek out his wickedness, find none;||NASB||KJV||ASV||DRB||YLT|
|16 The LORD is King forever and ever; Nations have perished from His land.||16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.||16 Jehovah is King for ever and ever: The nations are perished out of his land.||16 The Lord shall reign to eternity, yea, for ever and ever: ye Gentiles shall perish from his land.||16 Jehovah is king to the age, and for ever, The nations have perished out of His land!||17 O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear||17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:||17 Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek: Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;||17 The Lord hath heard the desire of the poor: thy ear hath heard the preparation of their heart.||17 The desire of the humble Thou hast heard, O Jehovah. Thou preparest their heart; Thou causest Thine ear to attend,||18 To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed, So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.||18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.||18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, That man who is of the earth may be terrible no more.||18 To judge for the fatherless and for the humble, that man may no more presume to magnify himself upon earth.||18 To judge the fatherless and bruised: He addeth no more to oppress -- man of the earth!|
