Judging Others
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.1 JUDGE not, that you may not be judged, 1 'Judge not, that ye may not be judged,
2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you.2 For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. 2 for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you.
3 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?3 Any why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye? 3 And why dost thou behold the mote that is in thy brother's eye, and the beam that is in thine own eye dost not consider?
4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye?4 Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye? 4 or, how wilt thou say to thy brother, Suffer I may cast out the mote from thine eye, and lo, the beam is in thine own eye?
5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.5 Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.5 Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 5 Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then thou shalt see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.6 Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you. 6 Ye may not give that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, that they may not trample them among their feet, and having turned -- may rend you.
Prayer and the Golden Rule
7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:7 Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you. 7 'Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you;
8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.8 for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.8 For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. 8 for every one who is asking doth receive, and he who is seeking doth find, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened.
9 "Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone;9 Or what man is there among you, of whom if his son shall ask bread, will he reach him a stone? 9 'Or what man is of you, of whom, if his son may ask a loaf -- a stone will he present to him?
10 "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?10 or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?10 Or if he shall ask him a fish, will he reach him a serpent? 10 and if a fish he may ask -- a serpent will he present to him?
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?11 If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him? 11 if, therefore, ye being evil, have known good gifts to give to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those asking him?
12 "In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.12 All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.12 All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets. 12 'All things, therefore, whatever ye may will that men may be doing to you, so also do to them, for this is the law and the prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:13 Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.13 Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat. 13 Go ye in through the strait gate, because wide is the gate, and broad the way that is leading to the destruction, and many are those going in through it;
14 "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.14 How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it! 14 how strait is the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it!
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 15 'But, take heed of the false prophets, who come unto you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
16 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?16 By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 16 From their fruits ye shall know them; do men gather from thorns grapes? or from thistles figs?
17 "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 17 so every good tree doth yield good fruits, but the bad tree doth yield evil fruits.
18 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. 18 A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits.
19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire. 19 Every tree not yielding good fruit is cut down and is cast to fire:
20 "So then, you will know them by their fruits.20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. 20 therefore from their fruits ye shall know them.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. 21 'Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens.
22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. 23 and then I will acknowledge to them, that -- I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness.
The Two Foundations
24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:24 Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:24 Every one therefore that heareth these my words, and doth them, shall be likened to a wise man that built his house upon a rock, 24 'Therefore, every one who doth hear of me these words, and doth do them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon the rock;
25 "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.25 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and if fell not: for it was founded upon the rock.25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded on a rock. 25 and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell not, for it had been founded on the rock.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
26 "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:26 And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:26 And every one that heareth these my words, and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, 26 'And every one who is hearing of me these words, and is not doing them, shall be likened to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand;
27 "The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell-- and great was its fall."27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.27 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof. 27 and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.'
28 When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching:28 And it came to pass when Jesus had fully ended these words, the people were in admiration at his doctrine. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,
29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.29 for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.29 For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes and Pharisees. 29 for he was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
