Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD! And let my cry for help come to You.1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.1 Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, And let my cry come unto thee.1 The prayer of the poor man, when he was anxious, and poured out his supplication before the Lord. Hear, O Lord, my prayer: and let my cry come to thee. 1 A Prayer of the afflicted when he is feeble, and before Jehovah poureth out his plaint. O Jehovah, hear my prayer, yea, my cry to Thee cometh.
Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; In the day when I call answer me quickly.2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.2 Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress: Incline thine ear unto me; In the day when I call answer me speedily.2 Turn not away thy face from me: in the day when I am in trouble, incline thy ear to me. In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me speedily. 2 Hide not Thou Thy face from me, In a day of mine adversity, Incline unto me Thine ear, In the day I call, haste, answer me.
For my days have been consumed in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.3 For my days consume away like smoke, And my bones are burned as a firebrand.3 For my days are vanished like smoke: and my bones are grown dry like fuel for the fire. 3 For consumed in smoke have been my days, And my bones as a fire-brand have burned.
My heart has been smitten like grass and has withered away, Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.4 My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; For I forget to eat my bread.4 I am smitten as grass, and my heart is withered: because I forgot to eat my bread. 4 Smitten as the herb, and withered, is my heart, For I have forgotten to eat my bread.
Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh.5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.5 By reason of the voice of my groaning My bones cleave to my flesh.5 Through the voice of my groaning, my bone hath cleaved to my flesh. 5 From the voice of my sighing Hath my bone cleaved to my flesh.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the waste places.6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places.6 I am become like to a pelican of the wilderness: I am like a night raven in the house. 6 I have been like to a pelican of the wilderness, I have been as an owl of the dry places.
I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow That is alone upon the house-top.7 I have watched, and am become as a sparrow all alone on the housetop. 7 I have watched, and I am As a bird alone on the roof.
My enemies have reproached me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse.8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; They that are mad against me do curse by me.8 All the day long my enemies reproached me: and they that praised me did swear against me. 8 All the day mine enemies reproached me, Those mad at me have sworn against me.
For I have eaten ashes like bread And mingled my drink with weeping9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping,9 For I did eat ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping. 9 Because ashes as bread I have eaten, And my drink with weeping have mingled,
Because of Your indignation and Your wrath, For You have lifted me up and cast me away.10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.10 Because of thy anger and indignation: for having lifted me up thou hast thrown me down. 10 From Thine indignation and Thy wrath, For Thou hast lifted me up, And dost cast me down.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass.11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; And I am withered like grass.11 My days have declined like a shadow, and I am withered like grass. 11 My days as a shadow are stretched out, And I -- as the herb I am withered.
But You, O LORD, abide forever, And Your name to all generations.12 But thou, O LORD, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.12 But thou, O Jehovah, wilt abide for ever; And thy memorial name unto all generations.12 But thou, O Lord, endurest for ever: and thy memorial to all generations. 12 And Thou, O Jehovah, to the age abidest, And Thy memorial to all generations.
You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come.13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.13 Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; For it is time to have pity upon her, Yea, the set time is come.13 Thou shalt arise and have mercy on Sion: for it is time to have mercy on it, for the time is come. 13 Thou -- Thou risest -- Thou pitiest Zion, For the time to favour her, For the appointed time hath come.
Surely Your servants find pleasure in her stones And feel pity for her dust.14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, And have pity upon her dust.14 For the stones thereof have pleased thy servants: and they shall have pity on the earth thereof. 14 For Thy servants have been pleased with her stones, And her dust they favour.
So the nations will fear the name of the LORD And all the kings of the earth Your glory.15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.15 So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, And all the kings of the earth thy glory.15 And the Gentiles shall fear thy name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. 15 And nations fear the name of Jehovah, And all kings of the earth Thine honour,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
For the LORD has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.16 For Jehovah hath built up Zion; He hath appeared in his glory.16 For the Lord hath built up Sion: and he shall be seen in his glory. 16 For Jehovah hath builded Zion, He hath been seen in His honour,
He has regarded the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.17 He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, And hath not despised their prayer.17 He hath had regard to the prayer of the humble: and he hath not despised their petition. 17 He turned unto the prayer of the destitute, And He hath not despised their prayer.
This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.18 This shall be written for the generation to come; And a people which shall be created shall praise Jehovah.18 Let these things be written unto another generation: and the people that shall be created shall praise the Lord: 18 This is written for a later generation, And the people created do praise Jah.
For He looked down from His holy height; From heaven the LORD gazed upon the earth,19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; From heaven did Jehovah behold the earth;19 Because he hath looked forth from his high sanctuary: from heaven the Lord hath looked upon the earth. 19 For He hath looked From the high place of His sanctuary. Jehovah from heaven unto earth looked attentively,
To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;20 To hear the sighing of the prisoner; To loose those that are appointed to death;20 That he might hear the groans of them that are in fetters: that he might release the children of the slain: 20 To hear the groan of the prisoner, To loose sons of death,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
That men may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion And His praise in Jerusalem,21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;21 That men may declare the name of Jehovah in Zion, And his praise in Jerusalem;21 That they may declare the name of the Lord in Sion: and his praise in Jerusalem; 21 To declare in Zion the name of Jehovah, And His praise in Jerusalem,
When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.22 When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.22 When the people assemble together, and kings, to serve the Lord. 22 In the peoples being gathered together, And the kingdoms -- to serve Jehovah.
He has weakened my strength in the way; He has shortened my days.23 He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.23 He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.23 He answered him in the way of his strength: Declare unto me the fewness of my days. 23 He hath humbled in the way my power, He hath shortened my days.
I say, "O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, Your years are throughout all generations.24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: Thy years are throughout all generations.24 Call me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are unto generation and generation. 24 I say, 'My God, take me not up in the midst of my days,' Through all generations are Thine years.
"Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.25 Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth; And the heavens are the work of thy hands.25 In the beginning, O Lord, thou foundedst the earth: end the heavens are the works of thy hands. 25 Beforetime the earth Thou didst found, And the work of Thy hands are the heavens.
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
"Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure; Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:26 They shall perish but thou remainest: and all of them shall grow old like a garment: And as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed. 26 They -- They perish, and Thou remainest, And all of them as a garment become old, As clothing Thou changest them, And they are changed.
"But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.27 But thou art the same, And thy years shall have no end.27 But thou art always the selfsame, and thy years shall not fail. 27 And Thou art the same, and Thine years are not finished.
"The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You."28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.28 The children of thy servants shall continue, And their seed shall be established before thee. 28 The children of thy servants shall continue: and their seed shall be directed for ever. 28 The sons of Thy servants do continue, And their seed before Thee is established!
