NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, | 1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: | 1 The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: | 1 The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come: | 1 Elders who are among you, I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker, | 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; | 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; | 2 Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to the will of God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; | 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily: | 2 feed the flock of God that is among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, | 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. | 3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. | 3 neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock. | 3 Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. | 3 neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock, | 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. | 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. | 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. | 4 And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. | 4 and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. | 5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. | 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. | 5 Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. | 5 In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace. | 5 In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace; | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, | 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: | 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; | 6 Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation: | 6 be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time, | 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. | 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. | 7 casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you. | 7 Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you. | 7 all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you. | 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. | 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: | 8 Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, | 8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. | 8 Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up, | 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. | 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. | 9 whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. | 9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. | 9 whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished. | 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. | 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. | 10 And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you. | 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. | 10 And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you; | NASB | KJV | ASV | DRB | YLT |
| 11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen. | 11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. | 11 To him be the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. | 11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. | 11 to Him is the glory, and the power -- to the ages and the ages! Amen. | 12 Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it! | 12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. | 12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I account him , I have written unto you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand ye fast therein. | 12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. | 12 Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few words I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood. | 13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark. | 13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son. | 13 She that is in Babylon, elect together with you , saluteth you; and'so doth Mark my son. | 13 The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark. | 13 Salute you doth the assembly in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son. | 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be to you all who are in Christ. | 14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. | 14 Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ. | 14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen. | 14 Salute ye one another in a kiss of love; peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus! Amen. |
