 Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.1 Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there , prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Symeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.1 NOW there were in the church which was at Antioch, prophets and doctors, among whom was Barnabas, and Simon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen, who was the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 1 And there were certain in Antioch, in the assembly there, prophets and teachers; both Barnabas, and Simeon who is called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also -- Herod the tetrarch's foster-brother -- and Saul;
 While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.2 And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.2 And as they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Ghost said to them: Separate me Saul and Barnabas, for the work whereunto I have taken them. 2 and in their ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Separate ye to me both Barnabas and Saul to the work to which I have called them,'
 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.3 Then they, fasting and praying, and imposing their hands upon them, sent them away. 3 then having fasted, and having prayed, and having laid the hands on them, they sent them away.
 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus.4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.4 So they being sent by the Holy Ghost, went to Seleucia: and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. 4 These, indeed, then, having been sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, thence also they sailed to Cyprus,
 When they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; and they also had John as their helper.5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.5 And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant.5 And when they were come to Salamina, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also in the ministry. 5 and having come unto Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews, and they had also John as a ministrant;

 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus,6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:6 And when they had gone through the whole island unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;6 And when they had gone through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesu: 6 and having gone through the island unto Paphos, they found a certain magian, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name is Bar-Jesus;
 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. 8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is interpreted) withstood them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith. 8 and there withstood them Elymas the magian -- for so is his name interpreted -- seeking to pervert the proconsul from the faith.
 But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him,9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.9 But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,9 Then Saul, otherwise Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost, looking upon him, 9 And Saul -- who also is Paul -- having been filled with the Holy Spirit, and having looked stedfastly on him,
 and said, "You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?10 and said, O full of all guile and all villany, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?10 Said: O full of all guile, and of all deceit, child of the devil, enemy of all justice, thou ceasest not to pervert the right ways of the Lord. 10 said, 'O full of all guile, and all profligacy, son of a devil, enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease perverting the right ways of the Lord?

 "Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and not see the sun for a time." And immediately a mist and a darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking those who would lead him by the hand.11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell a mist and darkness upon him, and going about, he sought some one to lead him by the hand. 11 and now, lo, a hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season;' and presently there fell upon him a mist and darkness, and he, going about, was seeking some to lead him by the hand;
 Then the proconsul believed when he saw what had happened, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.12 Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.12 Then the proconsul, when he had seen what was done, believed, admiring at the doctrine of the Lord. 12 then the proconsul having seen what hath come to pass, did believe, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
 Now Paul and his companions put out to sea from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but John left them and returned to Jerusalem.13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.13 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.13 Now when Paul and they that were with him had sailed from Paphos, they came to Perge in Pamphylia. And John departing from them, returned to Jerusalem. 13 And those about Paul having set sail from Paphos, came to Perga of Pamphylia, and John having departed from them, did turn back to Jerusalem,
 But going on from Perga, they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, and on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.14 But they, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia; and they went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.14 But they passing through Perge, came to Antioch in Pisidia: and entering into the synagogue on the sabbath day, they sat down. 14 and they having gone through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia, and having gone into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, they sat down,
 After the reading of the Law and the Prophets the synagogue officials sent to them, saying, "Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it."15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Ye men, brethren, if you have any word of exhortation to make to the people, speak. 15 and after the reading of the law and of the prophets, the chief men of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, 'Men, brethren, if there be a word in you of exhortation unto the people -- say on.'

 Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.16 And Paul stood up, and beckoning with the hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, hearken:16 Then Paul rising up, and with his hand bespeaking silence, said: Ye men of Israel, and you that fear God, give ear. 16 And Paul having risen, and having beckoned with the hand, said, 'Men, Israelites, and those fearing God, hearken:
 "The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He led them out from it.17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm led he them forth out of it.17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they were sojourners in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought them out from thence, 17 the God of this people Israel did choose our fathers, and the people He did exalt in their sojourning in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm did He bring them out of it;
 "For a period of about forty years He put up with them in the wilderness.18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.18 And for about the time of forty years as a nursing-father bare he them in the wilderness.18 And for the space of forty years endured their manners in the desert. 18 and about a period of forty years He did suffer their manners in the wilderness,
 "When He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land as an inheritance-- all of which took about four hundred and fifty years.19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years:19 And destroying seven nations in the land of Chanaan, divided their land among them, by lot, 19 and having destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He did divide by lot to them their land.
 "After these things He gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.20 and after these things he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.20 As it were, after four hundred and fifty years: and after these things, he gave unto them judges, until Samuel the prophet. 20 'And after these things, about four hundred and fifty years, He gave judges -- till Samuel the prophet;

 "After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, 'I HAVE FOUND DAVID the son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MY HEART, who will do all My will.'22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who shall do all My will.22 And when he had removed him, he raised them up David to be king: to whom giving testimony, he said: I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who shall do all my wills. 22 and having removed him, He did raise up to them David for king, to whom also having testified, he said, I found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who shall do all My will.
 "From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus,23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:23 Of this man's seed hath God according to promise brought unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus;23 Of this man's seed God according to his promise, hath raised up to Israel a Saviour, Jesus: 23 'Of this one's seed God, according to promise, did raise to Israel a Saviour -- Jesus,
 after John had proclaimed before His coming a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.24 when John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.24 John first preaching, before his coming, the baptism of penance to all the people of Israel. 24 John having first preached, before his coming, a baptism of reformation to all the people of Israel;
 "And while John was completing his course, he kept saying, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not He. But behold, one is coming after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.25 And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not he . But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.25 And when John was fulfilling his course, he said: I am not he, whom you think me to be: but behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose. 25 and as John was fulfilling the course, he said, Whom me do ye suppose to be? I am not he, but, lo, he doth come after me, of whom I am not worthy to loose the sandal of his feet.

 "Brethren, sons of Abraham's family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.26 Brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth.26 Men, brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fear God, to you the word of this salvation is sent. 26 'Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, and those among you fearing God, to you was the word of this salvation sent,
 "For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, recognizing neither Him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.27 For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him .27 For they that inhabited Jerusalem, and the rulers thereof, not knowing him, nor the voices of the prophets, which are read every sabbath, judging him have fulfilled them. 27 for those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their chiefs, this one not having known, also the voices of the prophets, which every sabbath are being read -- having judged him -- did fulfil,
 "And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.28 And though they found no cause of death in him , yet asked they of Pilate that he should be slain.28 And finding no cause of death in him, they desired of Pilate, that they might kill him. 28 and no cause of death having found, they did ask of Pilate that he should be slain,
 "When they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, taking him down from the tree, they laid him in a sepulchre. 29 and when they did complete all the things written about him, having taken him down from the tree, they laid him in a tomb;
 "But God raised Him from the dead;30 But God raised him from the dead:30 But God raised him from the dead:30 But God raised him up from the dead the third day: 30 and God did raise him out of the dead,

 and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people.31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.31 and he was seen for many days of them that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people.31 Who was seen for many days, by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who to this present are his witnesses to the people. 31 and he was seen for many days of those who did come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
 "And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,32 And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers,32 And we declare unto you, that the promise which was made to our fathers, 32 'And we to you do proclaim good news -- that the promise made unto the fathers,
 that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.'33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.33 that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.33 This same God hath fulfilled to our children, raising up Jesus, as in the second psalm also is written: Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. 33 God hath in full completed this to us their children, having raised up Jesus, as also in the second Psalm it hath been written, My Son thou art -- I to-day have begotten thee.
 "As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: 'I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.'34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.34 And to shew that he raised him up from the dead, not to return now any more to corruption, he said thus: I will give you the holy things of David faithful. 34 'And that He did raise him up out of the dead, no more to return to corruption, he hath said thus -- I will give to you the faithful kindnesses of David;
 "Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.'35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.35 Because he saith also in another psalm , Thou wilt not give Thy Holy One to see corruption.35 And therefore, in another place also, he saith: Thou shalt not suffer thy holy one to see corruption. 35 wherefore also in another place he saith, Thou shalt not give Thy kind One to see corruption,
NASBKJVASVDRBYLT
 "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay;36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:36 For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:36 For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption. 36 for David, indeed, his own generation having served by the will of God, did fall asleep, and was added unto his fathers, and saw corruption,
 but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.37 but he whom God raised up saw no corruption.37 But he whom God hath raised from the dead, saw no corruption. 37 but he whom God did raise up, did not see corruption.
 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:38 Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins:38 Be it known therefore to you, men, brethren, that through him forgiveness of sins is preached to you: and from all the things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. 38 'Let it therefore be known to you, men, brethren, that through this one to you is the forgiveness of sins declared,
 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.39 and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.39 In him every one that believeth, is justified. 39 and from all things from which ye were not able in the law of Moses to be declared righteous, in this one every one who is believing is declared righteous;
 "Therefore take heed, so that the thing spoken of in the Prophets may not come upon you:40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets:40 Beware, therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets: 40 see, therefore, it may not come upon you that hath been spoken in the prophets:

 'BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORK WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE, THOUGH SOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.'"41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which ye shall in no wise believe, if one declare it unto you.41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if any man shall tell it you. 41 See, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish, because a work I -- I do work in your days, a work in which ye may not believe, though any one may declare it to you.'
 As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.42 And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath.42 And as they went out, they desired them, that on the next sabbath, they would speak unto them these words. 42 And having gone forth out of the synagogue of the Jews, the nations were calling upon them that on the next sabbath these sayings may be spoken to them,
 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.43 Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.43 And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews, and of the strangers who served God, followed Paul and Barnabas: who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. 43 and the synagogue having been dismissed, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes did follow Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were persuading them to remain in the grace of God.
Paul Turns to the Gentiles
 The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.44 And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.44 But the next sabbath day, the whole city almost came together, to hear the word of God. 44 And on the coming sabbath, almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of God,
 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.45 And the Jews seeing the multitudes, were filled with envy, and contradicted those things which were said by Paul, blaspheming. 45 and the Jews having seen the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and did contradict the things spoken by Paul -- contradicting and speaking evil.

 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.46 And Paul and Barnabas spake out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.46 Then Paul and Barnabas said boldly: To you it behoved us first to speak the word of God: but because you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold we turn to the Gentiles. 46 And speaking boldly, Paul and Barnabas said, 'To you it was necessary that first the word of God be spoken, and seeing ye do thrust it away, and do not judge yourselves worthy of the life age-during, lo, we do turn to the nations;
